Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Ford is expected to be the No. 2 back behind RB Nick Chubb in 2023, NBC Sports' Matthew Berry wrote on Monday, March 6.
Huddle Up: Berry noted that the Browns "like Ford a lot." We've seen before that Cleveland can support two backs, although it should be noted the Browns could go more pass-heavy with Deshaun Watson under center. Nevertheless, Ford is on the fantasy radar for 2023 as a late-round flier and Chubb handcuff in re-draft leagues and is a hold in dynasty formats.

Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Ford showed enough as a kick returner in 2022 to give head coach Kevin Stefanski hope that he can be the backup to Nick Chubb. "I was very encouraged with Jerome. I know he didn't have a ton of opportunities, but (I was) encouraged by the opportunities he had. As a kick returner, you saw some of his natural ability. You saw speed and you saw vision, and that was something he had never done. I think you see a player who has an upside. Ultimately, it is going to be on him to go earn that (No. 2 running back) role, but I do think he is capable of it, yes," Stefanski said recently.
Huddle Up: It appears Cleveland has decided to move on from Kareem Hunt, so all Ford needs is for the Browns to do the same with impending free-agent D'Ernest Johnson. ESPN's Jake Trotter noted that Ford has "underrated hands" and "the potential to man the third-down role" that belonged to Hunt. It seems unlikely Ford will play as much as Hunt did, but it also appears as though Cleveland does not want to add much more to Chubb's plate either. Remember Ford as a mid-to-late flier in early drafts.

Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Ford "will get an opportunity to win Cleveland's backup running back job" with impending free-agent RB Kareem Hunt likely leaving in the offseason, according to Jake Trotter of ESPN.
Huddle Up: While Nick Chubb is the top option the the Cleveland backfield, Ford would have value if he secures the backup role. At the very least, Ford would become a handcuff for Chubb owners.
