Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers LB Shaq Thompson (ankle) is expected to miss an extended period after the ankle injury he suffered in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints, and source say it is likely he'll be out for the season. He'll have tests to determine the severity on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Head coach Frank Reich said the injury is "significant". LB Kamu Grugier-Hill stepped up in Thompson's absence.

Carolina Panthers LB Kamu Grugier-Hill stepped up in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints, filling in after LB Shaq Thompson (shin) was carted off early with an injury. Grugier-Hill posted six total stops, including five of the solo variety, with a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit.

DE Marquis Haynes (ankle) and OL Cade Mays (knee) were limited Friday and are listed as questionable while TE Tommy Tremble (hip) was a full participant Friday and also is questionable. WR Shi Smith (foot), TE Stephen Sullivan (ankle), and LB Shaq Thompson (hamstring) practiced in full and carry no designation for the game.
