Jacksonville Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault Jr. was described as a 'freak' by QB Gardner Minshew, who also praised Shenault for his route running.
Huddle Up: Shenault is recovered from surgery, and he will be one of several receivers with a chance to emerge as a consistent playmaker for the Jacksonville passing attack. He is a must-own option in dynasty formats and a potential late-round lottery ticket in standard leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Huddle Up: Minshew emerged with a splash in the early part of last season before fizzling out. He'll be an interesting, midrange QB2 option later in drafts.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday, Aug. 2.
Huddle Up: Minshew will be sidelined for an undisclosed amount of time, so fantasy players can monitor the situation. He is coming off a solid 2019 season and will be the starter this season. Minshew should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew had the highest scramble rate (8.9 percent) of any quarterback in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus data.
Huddle Up: Minshew did rush for 344 yards -- fifth most among QBs -- but didn't have a rushing TD and his passing stats (3,271 yards, 21 TDs) were below average, leading to a 21st-place finish among fantasy QBs. He's now the clear starter in J'ville, but he remains a low-end QB2 for fantasy.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault Jr. will compete with veteran WR Chris Conley during training camp to be the team's No. 2 receiver behind WR DJ Chark.
Huddle Up: Shenault is fully recovered from core muscle surgery and is expected to play an integral role in the Jacksonville offense this season. He has a great deal of upside and is worthy of consideration as a WR5 option in this year's fantasy drafts.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette could see his reception total cut in half in 2020 because of the addition of RB Chris Thompson, according to Mike DiRocco of ESPN.com.
Huddle Up: Fournette should continue to handle a majority of the carries, so even if he doesn't approach his total of 76 catches from last year, he should remain a high-volume back and a low-end RB1.

Jacksonville Jaguars second-round pick WR Laviska Shenault Jr. (abdomen) is doing on-field work to rehab his core muscle injury he had operated on in February.
Huddle Up: Shenault could work his way up the unproven receiving corps quickly and is a good value to take as a WR5.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew earned a 94.7 Pro Football Focus grade on throws of at least 20 yards downfield in 2019, ranking him third among quarterbacks.
Huddle Up: Minshew didn't grade out as well fantasy-wise, ranking 21st among QB with an average of 20.1 fantasy points per contest. Expect some improvement in Year 2, but he's still only a mid-level QB2 at best.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew is familiar with the talents of rookie WR Laviska Shenault Jr. and what he can do for an offense from their time playing against each other in college. 'Every time he touched the ball you just got nervous because you know he could break it,' Minshew said.
Huddle Up: Minshew formed quick chemistry with WR DJ Chark Jr. in his rookie season under center while splitting time with Nick Foles. Chark finished the year with 1,008 yards and Chris Conley totaled 775 receiving yards. Shenault could take over the No. 2 role early on for the Jags and there should be plenty of volume available with the Jaguars expected to trail more often than not in 2020.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew will have the offense tailored to him in 2020, according to offensive coordinator Jay Gruden. 'It's my job to make it mesh, to take on the personality of our quarterback - and for him to understand what we're trying to get accomplished on play-to-play, game-to-game, week-to-week basis is going to be critical,' Gruden said. ... 'Now, it's just a matter of him getting some general knowledge of our offense and me figuring out what he likes, what he doesn't like - what makes him tick - and go from there.'
Huddle Up: Minshew completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 3,271 yards and 21 touchdowns against a modest six interceptions over 12 starts and 14 games as a rookie in 2019. He added 344 rushing yards on 67 attempts, showing impressive mobility. He has some quality pass-catchers in WRs DJ Chark Jr., Dede Westbrook, Laviska Shenault Jr. and TE Tyler Eifert, and the running ability provides a stable fantasy floor. He should be targeted as a mid-tier QB2 in redraft leagues but is a risky dynasty asset who could be replaced in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR DJ Chark Jr. can do a little more due to his size, speed and ability to get out of breaks, according to offensive coordinator Jay Gruden Tuesday, May 26. Gruden called Chark an excellent physical specimen and said the third-year receiver will move around and play out of the slot some in 2020.
Huddle Up: Chark caught 73 of 118 targets for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore while bouncing between QBs Gardner Minshew and Nick Foles. He was the No. 1 option for either quarterback whenever on the field, and he'll again lead a pass-catching group that added Laviska Shenault Jr. in the 2020 NFL Draft and TE Tyler Eifert in free agency. Chark should be viewed as a high-upside WR3.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew will be working on making more plays from the pocket, according to head coach Doug Marrone. The priorities will be developing rhythm and reads and deciphering coverage. Marrone added they don't want to discourage Minshew from using his creativity, but they want him to make good decisions.
Huddle Up: Minshew was a little bit better in reality (6-6 record, 21 TDs, 6 interceptions) than fantasy (21st among QBs with 20.1 points per game) last season. He's now the Jags' clear-cut starter with Nick Foles now gone, but he shouldn't be considered anything than a low-end QB2 for fantasy purposes.

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Tyler Eifert suggested during an interview with the team's website Thursday, May 14, that the presence of new offensive coordinator Jay Gruden was 'a big factor' why he chose to sign with the team in free agency.
Huddle Up: The two spent their only year together during Eifert's rookie season with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2013, but it's clear the tight end did not forget his former offensive coordinator. It will be interesting to see if the oft-injured 29-year-old (who will turn 30 in early September) will be managed in the same way he was in 2018, as less playing time allowed him to make it through a full 16-game schedule for the first time in his career. Owners should consider him a low-end TE2 with decent upside if that can happen.

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Chris Thompson (Redskins) officially signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, May 13. Official terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Thompson likely will be the third down back for the Jaguars and could also see a few carries each game. He probably will be more valuable in point-per-reception leagues but could be a late round pick in deeper standard leagues as well.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Ryquell Armstead averaged 10.29 yards per reception on 14 catches last year. No rookie back with at least 10 catches had a higher average.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette ranked fourth among running backs in 2019 with an average of 2.99 yards after contact per attempt.
Huddle Up: Despite the trade rumors and having his fifth-year option declined, the Jags won't hesitate to lean on Fournette, who ranked third in the league with 341 touches in 2019. Value him a low-end RB1.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette will be a big part of the offense in 2020, according to general manager David Caldwell. Fournette was involved in trade talks in the offseason.
Huddle Up: Fournette increased his value with 76 receptions last season, but he remains injury prone. He has missed 12 games in his three-year career, but he did play in a career-high 15 games last year. The team signed Chris Thompson, which could put a dent in Fournette's receiving numbers. View him as a high-end RB2 in PPR.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette will not have his fifth-year option picked up this offseason, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Fournette will be a free agent next offseason and could be on the trade block before the start of the 2020 season. He is coming off a solid 2019 season and should be a weekly starting fantasy option no matter where he plays.

Free-agent RB Chris Thompson (Redskins) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars Friday, May 1, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Thompson likely will have a role in the passing game as a third-down back with the Jaguars like he did while playing for the Washington Redskins last season. He will have some value in point-per-reception leagues but will not be a weekly flex option.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew on Friday, May 1, received a semi vote of confidence from head coach Doug Marrone, who also left the door open to the team adding a quarterback as well. 'Ya, he's our QB, there's no doubt about it,' Marrone said in an interview on Good Morning Football. '... But one of the things that we're doing, we're still looking to to make sure were upgraded at each position. There are some veterans out there that we might look at to bring in.'
Huddle Up: As a rookie in 2019, Minshew threw for 3,271 yards, 21 TDs and six interceptions while rushing for 344 additional yards to finish 19th among fantasy QBs in total points. Joshua Dobbs and rookie sixth-round pick Jake Luton are the only other QBs on the roster and it's very possible the Jags add a veteran free agent with the team being one of the favorites at sportsbooks to add an Andy Dalton or Cam Newton. Stay tuned ...

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie WR Laviska Shenault Jr., a second-round draft choice, is expected to play an immediate role within the Jacksonville offense. Jaguars director of college scouting Mark Ellenz said Shenault is 'very athletic and he can run really well -- especially for his size.' Ellenz added Shenault is strong, has a lot of ability in running after the catch and is highly competitive. Jaguars receivers coach Keenan McCardell called his new weapon a 'Swiss Army knife' as Shenault is able to play all over the field. 'I like the fact that he's been moved around and he has a really good football IQ,' McCardell said.
Huddle Up: The Jaguars are blessed with a lot of young talent at the receiver position, but much of their value will come down to QB Gardner Minshew II's development in his second year. Shenault should be considered a WR6 entering draft season, with better value in full-retention leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Yannick Ngakoue was not part of any trade offers on the first night of the NFL draft, according to general manager David Caldwell.
Huddle Up: This will be a situation to watch if Ngakoue stays as a holdout seems very possible. He's a midrange DL1 in IDP leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Keelan Cole signed his second-round restricted free-agent tender Thursday, April 23.
Huddle Up: Cole hasn't impressed much over the last two seasons after catching 42 of 83 targets for 748 yards and three touchdowns in 2017. He caught 24 of just 35 targets for 361 yards and three touchdowns across 16 games last season, but he made just one start. There's plenty of room in the Jaguars receiving corps for Cole to re-emerge, but he won't begin the 2020 season as a fantasy consideration.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette has drawn very little trade interest with multiple executives telling Jeremy Fowler of ESPN there has been 'zero movement' on a trade. Fowler adds many are expecting Friday, April 24, to be a busy day for moves around the league with teams having a better idea of what holes they'll have to fill.
Huddle Up: Fournette has largely underwhelmed since entering the league as a fourth overall pick in 2017. He rushed for a career-high 1,152 yards across 15 games last season, but he scored just three touchdowns. The Jags are unlikely to get much of value in a deal for the fourth-year player and may be better off holding onto him. He's a low-end RB2 whose value comes mostly from volume.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette is not expected to draw interest from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the trade market.
Huddle Up: Fournette really improved on his pass-catching ability, and he solidified himself as an RB1 in fantasy. He is a little brittle, though.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette has been the subject of trade talks between the Jaguars and other teams, according to sources.
Huddle Up: Fournette posted a career-best 1,152 rushing yards this past season and was also involved in the passing game with 522 receiving yards. He will be the starter no matter where he plays and likely will be a No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette had career highs in catches (76), receiving yards (522) and targets (100) in 2019.
Huddle Up: Fournette only caught 58 balls in his first two years combined, but his increased usage pushed him into the RB1 area in PPR leagues. Is this sustainable? It should be with Gardner Minshew under center. Fournette missed 11 games in his first two seasons but played in 15 of 16 last year. He's a low-end RB1, but you're buying high.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew is believed to be given a real shot at the position, and the team isn't expected to take a quarterback at No. 9 in the NFL draft, according to a friend of general manager David Caldwell.
Huddle Up: Minshew showed some flashes in fantasy during his tenure last season, and he could be a high-upside QB2 to target.

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Yannick Ngakoue has had several teams inquire about landing him, but the team values him and won't give him away.
Huddle Up: Ngakoue had a "down" season with 41 total tackles and eight sacks. However, his six passes defended, one pick, four forced fumbles and one recovery kept him as a midrange DL1. He should be drafted as such in 2020 regardless of where he plays.
