Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith on Thursday, April 15, was released by the team.
Huddle Up: Smith averaged 76.7 touches per season during his three-year run with the Falcons, and now will try to catch on somewhere else as a second or third back in a tight RB market. Meanwhile, even though the Falcons have added former Panthers RB Mike Davis this offseaason, look for Atlanta to use a pick or two on a running back in the upcoming draft.

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith (rib) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 1, but is not on the injury report for Week 17.
Huddle Up: Smith likely will receive a majority of work at running back but did not have a lot of success last week with a similar role. He could be a flex option in some leagues but is not a must-start option.

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith (rib) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 31.
Huddle Up: Smith was named the primary running back a few weeks ago but was held to 46 yards last week. He will receive a decent amount of carries this week but can be benched if better options are available.

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith (ribs) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 30.
Huddle Up: Smith ran for 46 yards on 10 attempts with another five yards coming on his lone reception in Week 16. He didn't start the game for the Falcons, but he did lead the team in carries. He's an adequate RB2 due to what should be a safe floor of production.

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith rushed for 46 yards on 10 carries against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16.
Huddle Up: Smith has taken over the starting running back job but did not have a lot of success against the Chiefs. He will have another tough matchup next week but can still be a flex option in fantasy leagues.

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith carried the ball 11 times for 42 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Dec. 13. Had added one catch for three yards as well.
Huddle Up: Smith is serving as the team's primary back right now, getting nearly double the touches of Todd Gurley, who clearly isn't right physically. He'll have his work cut out for him next week against Tampa's top-rated run defense, even though the Vikings ran effectively against them Sunday.

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith rushed for 36 yards on eight carries against the New Orleans Saints in Week 13.
Huddle Up: The Falcons used three running backs against the Saints, but Smith led the team with his 36 yards. Smith may receive some touches next week but should not be a starting fantasy option.

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith rushed 12 times for 65 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders and he added four grabs for 10 yards on five targets.
Huddle Up: Smith and Brian Hill did a decent job filling the void with Todd Gurley (knee) inactive. Despite the touchdown, Smith is still not a recommended fantasy play outside of the deepest leagues in Week 13 against the New Orleans Saints.

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith is impressing Matthew Tabeek of AtlantaFalcons.com with his ability to change directions. 'If you blink at the wrong moment you can lose sight of Smith in a hurry,' said Tabeek.
Huddle Up: Todd Gurley will need to be handcuffed this season and Smith is seemingly the top candidate. He has rushed for just 421 yards and five touchdowns through his first two seasons, with another 239 yards coming as a pass-catcher. The Falcons are desperate for a rushing attack after last year's poor team performance and will need as many helping bodies as they can get. Smith could be a late-round target in deeper leagues.
