The Minnesota Vikings terminated the contracts of vested veterans CB Chris Carr, DE Jeff Charleston, FS Eric Frampton and QB Sage Rosenfels Friday, Aug. 31.

Huddle Up: With the semi-surprising release of the 34-year-old Rosenfels, the Vikings will enter the regular season with one of the league's most inexperienced QB corps. Backing up second-year starter Christian Ponder will be third-year man Joe Webb and McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who spent part of the 2011 season playing in the arena league.

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with impending free-agent QB Sage Rosenfels on a new contract. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Rosenfels will serve as the veteran backup to Christian Ponder and Joe Webb, a role that has virtually no fantasy value whatsoever.

The Houston Texans will pursue Miami Dolphins QB Sage Rosenfels once the Dolphins release him following a physical.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: The move would certainly make sense. Rosenfels was a backup (and actually started some games) for the Texans from 2006-2009. He may have a better handle of the offense than third-string rookie T.J. Yates.

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms with free-agent QB Sage Rosenfels (Giants). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Good choice. Rosenfels is a career 62.5 percent passer with a 30-29 TD-INT ratio. He rarely makes big mistakes, except for that crazy scramble in Houston when he got helicoptered by a Colts LB and fumbled it away for a defensive TD to blow a Texans lead. He'll challenge Matt Moore for the job pretty quickly. The Dolphins are on bye this week.

The New York Giants have acquired QB Sage Rosenfels from the Minnesota Vikings, reports ESPNews. It is not known what the Giants gave up to acquire him.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Rosenfels brings to the Giants a talented, well experienced backup option that New York has been missing for sometime. Fantasy owners should keep him on the radar if Eli Manning is your starter and he misses any time for any reason this year.

Minnesota Vikings QB Sage Rosenfels said he is not worrying about fighting for a roster spot during training camp because he can only control what he does, according to Andrew Logue, of the Des Moines Register. 'I'll just let the dominos fall wherever they may fall,' Rosenfels said. 'I try not to get too up or too down. I try to stay very level, be consistent, work and just see what happens.'

Huddle Up: Rosenfels originally came to Minnesota via trade in February 2009 and thought he was battling Tarvaris Jackson for the starting job. Then the Favre Circus came to town and Rosenfels got pushed to #3. Now he's in danger of being released because rookie QB Joe Webb (sixth-round pick) has looked so good in mini-camps.

Michael Lombardi, of the National Football Post, reports the Minnesota Vikings are in discussions with the Oakland Raiders about a potential trade involving QB Sage Rosenfels, according to a Raiders executive. The Vikings would only trade Rosenfels if they know for certain QB Brett Favre is returning for the 2010 season.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: The Vikings brought in Rosenfels via trade with the Texans last offseason to compete with Tarvaris Jackson, but when Favre joined the team Rosenfels was relegated to third quarterback and didn't see any action. He would arguably be an upgrade over Bruce Gradkowski in Oakland, or at least provide a veteran backup and mentor for Gradkowski. The deal would hinge on assumptions for both sides: in Minnesota, that Favre is coming back and Jackson would be the backup; in Oakland, that JaMarcus Russell has run out of chances.

Updating a previous item, Chip Scoggins, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings QB Sage Rosenfels said his ankle feels better, but he is not sure if he will be able to play in the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 21. He said he is able to do some light running and cutting, but that he can't go full speed yet.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: To replace Rosenfels, the Vikings brought in journeyman quarterback Brett Favre, who spent last year with the Jets. Favre will likely get some reps with the Vikings' first team in Friday's preseason contest. No word yet on whether or not Rosenfels will get his starting job back once his ankle is healthy.

Chip Scoggins, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings QB Sage Rosenfels missed the team's practice Tuesday, Aug. 18.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Rosenfels tweaked his ankle early in the Vikings' preseason win over Indy, but it didn't prevent him from leading a couple scoring drives. There's a very good chance Rosenfels was also being treated for a bruised ego as Brett Favre rode into practice on a white stallion with Brad Childress tossing rose petals in front of him.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings QB Sage Rosenfels said he was not shocked about the signing of QB Brett Favre but was hoping it would not happen. 'Its something that wasnt a total shock. Obviously this has been three months in the ongoing sort of thing. So for me personally this wasnt what I was hoping for. I tried to get traded here and got traded here,' Rosenfels said. Rosenfels said his work ethic will not change.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Both Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson have to be disappointed, but they both have to stay sharp. Favre has a bad shoulder and he's 40, so odds are whoever the No. 2 Viking quarterback is has a really good shot at seeing significant playing time this season.
