Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell will start Week 17's game versus the San Francisco 49ers, according to a source. QB Jake Fromm will serve as the second-string quarterback, while QB Jacoby Brissett (hamstring) will be inactive as the team's third quarterback.
Huddle Up: The Commanders did not want to make an official decision on their starting quarterback for this afternoon until after Brissett had participated in pregame warmups Sunday, Dec. 31, although there wasn't much doubt that Howell was going to receive the starting nod. Howell is not a recommended starting option in any fantasy format, given his recent poor play and the tough matchup against the 49ers defense.

Washington Commanders S Percy Butler (wrist), C Tyler Larsen (knee) and OT Charles Leno Jr. (calf) were placed on injured reserve on Saturday, Dec. 30. Huddle Up: Fromm came on late in Week 15 for an ineffective Mike Glennon and moved the offense in his NFL debut. Given how awful Glennon has been, it is hard to imagine Fromm's promotion won't be an upgrade. With that said, Fromm belongs nowhere near fantasy lineups this week - even in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
