Free-agent RB Rico Dowdle (Cowboys) reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $2.75 million - and a maximum of $6.25 million - with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday, March 12.
Huddle Up: Dowdle did yeoman's work last season in what was a bad Dallas offense, even topping 1,000 yards rushing. It is surprising the Cowboys showed no interest in bringing him back. It was also mildly surprising he did not have a better market than he did, although the depth at the running back position in the upcoming draft might have had something to do with it. Either way, fantasy managers should expect Dowdle to handle roughly seven or eight touches per game behind Chuba Hubbard in the role that Jonathon Brooks was operating in before suffering a second ACL tear in as many years late in the season.

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB Rico Dowdle will not be returning to the Cowboys since the team has reached an agreement with impending free-agent RB Javonte Williams (Broncos), according to a source.
Huddle Up: Dowdle rushed for 1,079 yards this past season, so he should receive interest from a few teams and likely will receive a solid role with his new team. He probably can be at least a No. 3 running back in most leagues depending on his role.

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB Rico Dowdle is a player the Cowboys are interested in re-signing this offseason, according to chief operating officer Stephen Jones.
Huddle Up: Dowdle took over as the starting running back this season and finished with 1,079 rushing yards. He probably will start for whichever team he plays for next season and can be at least a flex option most weeks.

Dallas Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle ended up with 22 rushes for 72 yards and a touchdown in Week 18 against the Washington Commanders, while adding two receptions for 12 yards on three targets.
Huddle Up: Dowdle emerged as a respectable starting tailback for the Cowboys, although it remains to be seen if the organization sees him as a starter in 2025. The team could potentially look for an upgrade at the position. If he enters as the starter in 2025, he could be a solid low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option in leagues of 12 or more teams.

Dallas Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle rushed 23 times for 104 yards and caught one pass for four yards in a 41-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17.
Huddle Up: After a horrible showing against Tampa Bay last week, Dowdle delivered his fourth 100-yard rushing effort in his last five games. He should remain in the RB2 mix in the season finale.

Dallas Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle rushed 13 times and 23 yards and caught all three of his targets for 28 yards in Week 16 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Huddle Up: The running game did not stand much of a chance against the Vita Vea-led defensive line, as Dowdle's long rush for the night was six yards. He saved his fantasy performance a bit by maximizing his opportunities in the passing game, but he missed out on a bigger effort when Ezekiel Elliott vultured a 1-yard score from him late in the first half. Dowdle figures to struggle again in Week 17 against a very good Philadelphia Eagles' run defense, which puts him firmly in the mid-range RB2 conversation.

Dallas Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle rushed 25 times for a career-high 149 yards in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers, while he was not targeted in the pass game.
Huddle Up: Dowdle has posted a new career high in rushing yards in each of his past three games. This one was likely special for the North Carolina native, who played at nearby South Carolina. He had a lot of friends and family in the stands. It will be tough to top this performance in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as he aims for a new career high. He has emerged as a solid RB2 in all fantasy leagues at this critical juncture of the season.
