New England Patriots impending free-agent FS Devin McCourty has agreed to a five-year, $47.5 million deal to stay with the team.
Huddle Up: As one of the top-rated free-agent safeties, McCourty was attracting strong interest from several teams -- particularly Philly -- but the FS who had two interceptions, nine passes defensed and 78 total tackles last season will be back with the defending world champs.

New England Patriots CB Devin McCourty may be one of the team's starting safeties in Week 10 if SS Patrick Chung (shoulder, hamstring) and SS Steve Gregory (hip) are not able to play.
Huddle Up: The Pats' secondary has been shaky even at full health, and a reconfigured defensive backfield could translate into a few extra fantasy points for Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and his passing-game weapons.

New England Patriots CB Devin McCourty (rib), who exited the team's Week 14 game early with a rib injury, has not suffered a major injury, according to Ian R. Rapoport, of the Boston Herald. McCourty had an MRI Monday, Dec. 13. Head coach Bill Belichick offered no hint of McCourty's status. If McCourty can't go, CB Darius Butler is expected to take his place in the starting lineup.
Huddle Up: McCourty, a first-round pick out of Rutgers, is turning into one heckuva player. He's been a top-10 IDP DB over the last six weeks. His absence would be a big break for Green Bay in Week 15, but it won't matter much if Matt Flynn is the quarterback.
