Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict (hip) on Friday, Oct. 26, was ruled out for the team's Week 8 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Huddle Up: The Burfict Saga continues as he's played in three games since coming back from his season-opening four-game suspension, and his IDP-league owners will now have to look elsewhere again.

Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict has been suspended for the first three games of the 2016 regular season for repeated violations of the player safety rules. Burfict will appeal the suspension, according to his agent.
Huddle Up: Burfict had already rung up six figures in fines during the regular season, including a penalized hit on Ravens tight end Maxx Williams in Week 17. And the way Burfict's postseason played out on the big stage there was no way he was ducking a suspension.

Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict (knee) will begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to a source.
Huddle Up: It won't be a shocker if the LB misses most of the preseason -- and even some regular-season action -- after undergoing microfracture knee surgery this offseason. Stay tuned as we'll be monitoring his progress.

Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict is working his way back from microfracture surgery on his knee and is viewed as a question mark heading into training camp.
Huddle Up: After leading the league with 177 total tackles in 2013, Burfict had only 29 as he was limited to five games last season with the knee and also concussion issues. Microfracture never is a promising word, and don't be surprised if he's on the preseason PUP list and misses some time to start the regular season as well.

Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict's (knee) status for the start of training camp is uncertain at this point. Burfict hopes to be ready for camp and does not want to be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Huddle Up: The 2013 NFL tackles leader (177 total) was limited to 29 in five games last season due to knee and concussion issues and his status heading into the summer is obviously a major question mark after undergoing microfracture surgery in January. The Bengals, though, have a decent backup plan in place after having drafted TCU's Paul Dawson in the third round. Stay tuned ...

Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict (knee) is recovering from microfracture surgery on his left knee, and the surgeon who operated on him is hoping that he will be at full strength in time for training camp. 'I don't see any reason, if this thing heals like we want and we think it will, why he won't be back like he was,' Dr. Neal ElAttrache said. 'Microfracture has a bad connotation, but there are plenty of guys who have come back and been able to play like before. But it's not really news when it works out.' Burfict is expected to heal rapidly since his knee was in good shape structurally. He'll be on crutches for six weeks before he can start conditioning his knee, and he'll be able to run after three months.
Huddle Up: Microfracture surgery isn't necessarily the career-ender it used to be, but it's also no picnic; Burfict has a lot of work ahead of him, but all indications are this is an injury he can come all the way back from--in advance of the 2015 season, no less.

Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict has had knee surgery, head coach Marvin Lewis confirmed. While there has been concern Burfict might have to begin the 2015 season on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list and miss the first six weeks, Lewis said the plan is he'll be back for the majority of the season.
Huddle Up: Burfict, the 2013 league leader in total tackles, was limited to five games this past season due to knee and concussion issues, and he may not re-gain that top-level play-making form until 2016.

Cincinnati Bengals CB Vontaze Burfict (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Huddle Up: It was an injury-filled, star-crossed season for the 2013 NFL tackles leader, who played in only five games. His absence has affected the Cincy defense, which has fallen from fifth to 27th in rushing D, allowing 130.3 yards per game.

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict (knee) underwent surgery Wednesday, Oct. 29, to remove a piece of cartilage that would have done more damage to his knee if not treated. Burfict likely will miss at least the team's next two games.
Huddle Up: It's been one hit after another this season for the 2013 league leader in tackles, who has already missed 2 full games and has been unable to finish 3 others because of head and neck injuries.

Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict (knee), who has left all five games that he's played in this year, departed the Week 8 game with a knee injury, but he returned in the second quarter and played the remainder of the contest. Burfict said he'll be fine to play in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Huddle Up: It's been a rough season for 2013's lesgue tackles leader who currently is tied for eighth on the Bengals with only 29 total stops in his 5 games. You'd like to think, though, that Burfict's run of bad injury luck is well past due to be over, and he might be available in a number of IDP leagues.
