Indianapolis Colts WR Alec Pierce (ankle) may miss the first few weeks of the 2026 season, according to coach Shane Steichen.
Huddle Up: Pierce had ankle surgery in April and Colts GM Chris Ballard said at the time that he was looking at a three-month recovery, so "missing a couple weeks," sounds reasonable. Pierce signed a four-year, $114 million contract with the Colts after leading the NFL for a second consecutive season in yards per reception (21.3). He also posted career highs with 47 receptions for 1,003 yards in 15 games. If healthy, Pierce could be a WR2 candidate due to his deep ball threat and connection with QB Daniel Jones.

Huddle Up: Pierce's missing OTAs should not be a red flag, knowing the contract the team rewarded him with. He still remains a viable option in fantasy leagues in 2026 as a WR2 ceiling and a reliable WR3 floor.

Impending free-agent WR Alec Pierce (Colts) and the Indianapolis Colts have agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension worth $114 million, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network on Monday, March 9.
Huddle Up: Pierce set career highs in receptions, targets and yards in 2025, delivering his first 1,000-yard campaign in the process. Pierce was likely to have a robust free-agent market, but he will stay in Indianapolis for the foreseeable future. Pierce could be in the WR3 mix for fantasy purposes, but could see target volume now that he has a lot of money tied to him, to make him a high-upside fantasy WR2 with continued big-play potential.

Huddle Up: Pierce established career highs in receptions and touchdowns last season and eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the first time in 2025. He should be viewed as a solid WR3 option for fantasy leagues, especially if he returns to the Colts because of his rapport with QB Daniel Jones.

Indianapolis Colts impending free agent WR Alec Pierce reportedly has multiple teams vying to make him a big offer in free agency, including the Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots, in the opinion of Tony Pauline of EssentiallySports.com on Thursday, March 5.
Huddle Up: Pierce set career highs in receptions, targets and yards in 2025, delivering his first 1,000-yard campaign in the process.
