Atlanta Falcons QB Marcus Mariota was released Tuesday, Feb. 28.
Huddle Up: Mariota was one of the bigger surprises in fantasy as he played extremely well, for fantasy purposes, before the team gave Desmond Ridder the job. Mariota could find himself in a chance to compete for a starting job again next season.

Atlanta Falcons QB Marcus Mariota (knee) is expected to be placed on the Reserve/Injured list in the near future, according to a source.
Huddle Up: The move would end the regular season for Mariota and could possibly end his career with the Falcons. Rookie Desmond Ridder will get the nod in his place and offers similar movement qualities as Mariota. Ridder's accuracy was erratic at times in college, but he was typically on point when he was able to get into a rhythm. Ridder may not be worth considering in fantasy, but there is a decent chance his promotion could allow Drake London to blossom again before the season comes to an end.

Atlanta Falcons QB Desmond Ridder could take over as the starting quarterback for the final four games, in the opinion of Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, and Fowler believes it "would at least be a mild surprise" if Ridder doesn't replace QB Marcus Mariota under center.
Huddle Up: Mariota has been largely respectable as the starter, but with the Falcons struggling to put points on the board and unlikely to make the playoffs, it make sense for the team to see what Ridder can do. If Ridder does end up starting, he could be a sneaky QB2 because of his scrambling ability.
