Jacksonville Jaguars TE Evan Engram believes his role with the team so far has been as a "security blanket" and sees 2024 as a chance to make "more explosive plays" and become a "bigger red zone target." "My role was being the security blanket for Trevor (Lawrence) underneath and getting the ball in my hands fast, (yards after the catch), getting up field and moving the chains. I've done that really well and I think the next level for me is to improve that intermediate, deep range. ... Making more explosive plays, downfield, more touchdowns, being a bigger red zone target. Those are my goals. I think that can take it to a whole other level," Engram told ESPN.com's Michael DiRocco.
Huddle Up: The Jaguars have taken steps to become more of a vertical passing team this season, adding Gabe Davis in free agency and the freakishly talented Brian Thomas Jr. in the draft. Even as he nears his 30th birthday, Engram is still more of an oversized receiver than traditional tight end - and he still runs like one as well. The biggest concern from a fantasy perspective is how well he finished last season, which is something he is unlikely to repeat if Jacksonville's receivers stay healthy. Nonetheless, he is a strong pick as a player typically going around the start of the seventh round in fantasy drafts.

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Evan Engram said he wants to become more than just an underneath target this season. "Making more explosive plays, downfield, more touchdowns, being a bigger red zone target," Engram said. "Those are my goals. I think that can take it to a whole other level."
Huddle Up: Engram just missed out on a 1,000-yard season in 2023, and even he doesn't generate more big plays, he should remain one of the busiest targets in the Jacksonville passing game. He should be a reliable TE1.

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Evan Engram has been impressive during offseason workouts, according to head coach Doug Pederson.
Huddle Up: Engram is coming off a career-high 963 yards this past season and should continue to have a big role in the passing game for the Jaguars. He should be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues this upcoming season.

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Evan Engram led all tight ends and finished fourth in the NFL with 114 receptions in 2023.
Huddle Up: Engram shattered his previous career highs in both receptions and receiving yards, and he has enjoyed the two best seasons of his career during his two seasons in Jacksonville. Engram should be a TE1 again in 2024.
