Denver Broncos TE Evan Engram is a "curious fit" in head coach Sean Payton's offensive scheme, in the opinion of ESPN's Bill Barnwell, who believes Engram lacks the "physicality" of TE Jeremy Shockey, as well as the "verticality and ability to win in the red zone" of TE Jimmy Graham -- those were the two tight ends that Barnwell noted had success as the "Joker" under Payton, a role that Engram was signed to fill during the offseason.
Huddle Up: As Barnwell points out, Engram was a volume target in Jacksonville, and his career-best 963 yards in 2023 came on 143 targets. If Barnwell is right, and Engram is unlikely to approach that number of looks in Denver, Engram's upside could be limited. On the flip side, Denver didn't give Engram north of $20 million in free agency to approximate the production of guys like Adam Trautman and Lucas Krull, who had 32 receptions combined in 2024. Still, it's hard to argue that Engram enters this season amid lowered expectations after he came into 2024 as a borderline top-5 option at the position. Now, he feels like a borderline top-10 play alongside a group of younger players like Tucker Kraft, Jake Ferguson, Dalton Kincaid, and Colston Loveland, all of whom arguably offer more upside.

Denver Broncos TE Evan Engram has show "real good instincts" during OTAs, according to head coach Sean Payton.
Huddle Up: Engram has battled injuries throughout his career, but he has been relatively productive when healthy. Assuming he can stay on the field, he should be a reliable target for Bo Nix and a low-end TE1 for fantasy owners.

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix said he is building a good connection with TE Evan Engram during offseason workouts.
Huddle Up: Engram should be a valuable part of the Broncos passing game in 2025 if he can stay healthy. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Denver Broncos TE Evan Engram (shoulder) may see a limited workload during offseason workouts because he is recovering from a shoulder injury.
Huddle Up: Engram should be a full participant during training camp and probably will have an important role in the passing game this season if he can stay healthy. He should see a good amount of targets each game and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Denver Broncos TE Evan Engram (shoulder) should be able to participate in offseason workouts, according to general manager George Paton.
Huddle Up: Engram is recovering from shoulder surgery and may not be a full participant during the workouts but should be ready for training camp. He should have a solid role in the passing game in 2025 and can be a No. 1 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Updating a previous report, free-agent TE Evan Engram (Jaguars) reportedly agreed to terms on a two-year contract worth $23 million - including $16.5 million fully guaranteed - with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, March 12.
Huddle Up: The size of the contract suggests head coach Sean Payton may have his new "Joker." Even if that is not the case, no one else currently on the roster - outside of Courtland Sutton - will steal many targets for Engram. If he can stay healthy - which has been an issue for him throughout his career - Engram could push for top-five status at his position in 2025.

Free-agent TE Evan Engram (Jaguars) reportedly agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, March 12. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Huddle Up: It remains to be seen if head coach Sean Payton considers Engram as his "Joker," but there is no question the latter is a huge upgrade over what the former has had to work with at tight end during his time in Denver. With only Courtland Sutton having established himself as a target monster, Engram should have a path to 100-plus targets if he can stay healthy. As such, the former Jag and Giant should be considered a viable fantasy TE1 in 2025.

Free-agent TE Evan Engram (Chargers) is meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers Tuesday, March 11, according to a source.
Huddle Up: The Chargers do not have a receiving tight end, so Engram likely would be a solid part of the passing game if he decides to join the Chargers. He should see a decent amount of targets each game no matter where he play and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Evan Engram was released Thursday, March 6, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Engram was limited to only nine games this past season because of injury but did finish with 365 yards and one touchdown. He is a productive player when healthy and can be a No. 1 fantasy tight end next season depending on his situation.
