Indianapolis Colts QB Matt Ryan will be released, according to a source Tuesday, March 14. The move saves Indy $17.2 million in salary-cap space.
Huddle Up: This is a move that has been expected for a while. Ryan's days as a starter are likely over so it remains to be seen if he wants to live the backup quarterback life or ride off into the sunset.

Indianapolis Colts QB Matt Ryan remains with the team while general manager Chris Ballard continues to weigh the options with new head coach Shane Steichen. "We'll work through it with Shane. We'll work through it," Ballard said Wednesday, March 1. "We're just getting the staff settled. We'll start working through things next week." The Colts would save $17.2 million if Ryan is released before March 17.
Huddle Up: Ryan doesn't have any fantasy appeal left in the tank, and the Colts are likely to select a quarterback with their first-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

Indianapolis Colts QB Nick Foles (ribs) is in "a lot of pain" after he was carted off the field in Week 17 versus the New York Giants and will not play in Week 18 against the Houston Texans. Head coach Jeff Saturday named Sam Ehlinger as the Week 18 starter over Matt Ryan.
Huddle Up: Saturday told reporters he liked some of the things Ehlinger did in relief of Foles, so the 24-year-old will get his first start since getting demoted following a 26-3 debacle at the New England Patriots in Week 9. Ehlinger finished 9-of-14 for 60 yards against the Giants. Even against the hapless Texans and in a week where some teams will be resting key players, it would be hard for fantasy managers to start Ehlinger in two-quarterback and superflex leagues.

Indianapolis Colts QB Nick Foles will draw another start in Week 17 against the New York Giants, according to head coach Jeff Saturday. Sam Ehlinger will remain his backup, while Matt Ryan will be inactive.
Huddle Up: Foles did nothing to show he was a better option than Ryan in Monday night's loss, so it would appear the Colts are doing what they can to position themselves for the best draft pick possible. Another start for Foles means that fantasy managers should feel even more confident about firing up the Giants defense/special teams. Why? In Foles' first start, the Los Angeles Chargers collected seven sacks and three interceptions while allowing three points and holding the Colts without a third-down conversion.
