San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list without a designation to return, thereby ending his season.
Huddle Up: There was plenty of speculation about Jordan Mason overtaking Mitchell for the RB2 job this summer and Mitchell's inability to stay healthy was part of the reason why. With Mitchell out of the way, Mason becomes one of the top handcuffs in fantasy and should be rostered in virtually every league.

San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) and RB Jordan Mason (hip) returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 21.

San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) was recently diagnosed with a hamstring injury, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Huddle Up: This news takes on added importance after Shanahan revealed that Christian McCaffrey (calf) will be sidelined for a couple of weeks with his own injury earlier in the day. Jordan Mason was reportedly closing the gap on Mitchell earlier in camp, so another absence from Mitchell might just be what he needs to overtake him as the primary handcuff to McCaffrey. With that said, Shanahan has been steadfast in his belief of Mitchell for years, meaning Mason and Mitchell would likely work in a committee if CMC misses time this season.

San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (illness) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 5, and is not on the injury report for Week 18.
Huddle Up: Mitchell received most of the carries after Christian McCaffrey left the Week 17 game and should see plenty of touches again this week. He can be a No. 2 running back or flex option in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (illness) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 4.
Huddle Up: Mitchell is on track to receive most of the work in the running game this week if he is active for the game. He was productive in the last game and can be at least a flex option in leagues in Week 18.

San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 3.
Huddle Up: Mitchell still has a good chance to play in the Week 18 game if he can recover from his illness over the next few days. He is in line for most of the work at running back with Christian McCaffrey sitting out and should be a starting option in all leagues if active.
