Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent QB Daniel Jones is a player head coach Shane Steichen hopes returns to the team next season, and Steichen said he believes Jones wants to re-sign with the team.
Huddle Up: Jones threw for 3,101 yards and 19 touchdowns before suffering his season ending injury, so he should have multiple teams interested in him if he hit the free-agent market. He will probably open next season as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he decides to remain with the Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts will resume contract extension talks with QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) during the offseason, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Huddle Up: The two sides opted not to have any discussions about a long-term deal while Jones was in the middle of having arguably the best season of his career, which ended prematurely after he sustained a torn Achilles in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He underwent successful surgery and is hoping to be available for the start of training camp. Assuming that Jones returns to Indianapolis and has a smooth road to recovery, he can be a solid QB2 option for 2026 fantasy leagues.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) could be fully cleared in time for the start of training camp, according to sources, and the belief is that Jones will play for the Colts next season.
Huddle Up: Jones is an unrestricted free agent after the season, but he had the Colts in the playoff mix prior to his injury. Assuming he is back with the Colts in 2026 and his recovery stays on schedule, Jones should be a solid QB2.

Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) has been diagnosed with a torn Achilles tendon and will miss the rest of the 2025 season, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Huddle Up: Jones is scheduled to be a free agent this offseason and should receive interest from multiple teams even though he will be recovering from the injury. He will likely be a starting quarterback for a team in 2026 and will probably be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback. Riley Leonard is in line to be the Colts quarterback for the rest of the season, but fantasy players may want to avoid all Colts quarterbacks at this point.

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) will undergo surgery for his torn Achilles. He suffered the injury in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He could face a nine-month recovery period which puts him up against the start of the 2026 season.
Huddle Up: Jones signed a one-year contract with the Colts. When he is able to return, it's uncertain what team he will play for, as he'll be a free agent at season's end. Riley Leonard is now the only healthy QB on their 53-man roster, Brett Rypien is on their practice squad, and they could add to their QB room this week, according to the report. Anthony Richardson remains on injured reserve due to fractured orbital bone suffered during pregame warmups earlier this season.

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) suffered an Achilles injury in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he is scheduled for an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. He could face a 9-month recovery period which puts him up against the start of the 2026 season.
Huddle Up: Jones signed a one-year contract with the Colts. His season is all but likely over, although official word has not yet come down just yet. When he is able to return, it's uncertain what team he will play for, as he'll be a free agent at season's end.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) left the Week 14 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second quarter due to an Achilles injury, and he was quickly ruled out. QB Riley Leonard will take over for the remainder of the game. Jones finishes 5-of-7 for 60 yards, no touchdowns and one interception with one run for four yards.
Huddle Up: It's never a good sign to see a player ruled out so quickly, especially due to an Achilles injury. He was already playing with a broken bone in his fibula, so he likely was already on borrowed time. If you normally rely upon Jones, it might be a good idea to cast an eye to the waiver wire to make plans heading into Week 15 and beyond.
