Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent QB Daniel Jones has made significant progress on a two-year extension that would replace the transition tag Wednesday, March 11.
Huddle Up: Jones tore his Achilles late last season but is hoping to make it back early in 2026. Even when he returns, we've seen mobility extremely slow to return in quarterbacks after the injury. He'll be a QB2 option best kept in superflex or two-QB leagues.

The Indianapolis Colts placed the transition tag on QB Daniel Jones on Tuesday, March 3. The tag will pay Jones $37.8 million and allow for the Colts to match any deal he agrees to with another team.
Huddle Up: Jones returning to the Colts would be the best for his fantasy value, as the Colts showed they can utilize him best. Due to his Achilles injury, he could miss time, so his fantasy stock for 2026 remains up in the air.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones may get franchise tagged by the deadline by the Colts, but that deal happening is '50/50', according to Adam Schefter on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday, March 2.
Huddle Up: Jones was a revelation in his first eight weeks of the 2025 season, as he and the Colts' offense were cooking to the tune of 13 touchdowns to just three interceptions. After that, the team slowed down considerably and Jones was lost for the season in Week 14 with an Achilles tear. He was on pace for his best fantasy season. Still, with a major injury recovery ahead of him, news of his recuperation throughout the summer will tell us whether he'll be ready for Week 1 with the Colts or another NFL team. Jones is a streaming-level quarterback in fantasy with some rushing upside when healthy in 2026.

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent QB Daniel Jones could have the franchise tag or transition tag placed on him if the team is unable to finalize a contract extension before the deadline Tuesday, March 3. Jones would receive $43.9 million on the franchise tag and $37.8 million on the transition tag but in the latter scenario, Indianapolis would receive no compensation if Jones signs an offer sheet with a different team and the Colts decline to match.
Huddle Up: Jones does not appear to be close to a long-term deal at this time. Prior to sustaining an Achilles injury last December, Jones had been enjoying one of the best seasons of his career and he can be viewed as a reliable QB2 option once he has fully recovered.

Free-agent QB Daniel Jones (Colts) has been in discussions with the Indianapolis Colts on a multi-year deal.
Huddle Up: Jones suffered an Achilles tear Dec. 7, and he's not likely to be a viable fantasy option in drafts this season. It's possible he plays at some point in 2026, but we have seen it take a year after returning to really get past the injury.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones could have the franchise tag placed on him while the team works on an extension.
Huddle Up: Before Jones suffered a season-ending injury, he was on pace to have the best season of his career and be a bona fide QB1. There will be questions, but remaining with the Colts should help him to perhaps repeat his 2025 performance in some fashion.

The Indianapolis Colts plan to open talks with QB Daniel Jones on a multi-year contract extension this offseason, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. However, if they cannot work out a long-term deal, the team may consider using the franchise tag on him.
Huddle Up: The 28-year-old Jones was enjoying one of the best seasons of his career prior to sustaining a torn Achilles tendon last December. He can be viewed as a solid QB2 option in most 2026 fantasy leagues if he returns to full health.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones is the team's top priority in free agency, followed by WR Alec Pierce, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
Huddle Up: Jones was enjoying a solid season for the Colts prior to his Achilles injury, and assuming he is back in Indianapolis, he should be a reliable QB2 once he is healthy.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) might be ready for the season, and the team is confident it will be able to retain him for 2026.
Huddle Up: Jones was having a strong season before suffering his season-ending Achilles injury, going for 3,101 yards and 19 touchdown passes. Whether he returns to Indianapolis, or finds his way into a starting job with another organization, he was a QB2 in most fantasy leagues before his injury, so that isn't likely to change in 2026, especially coming off of a major injury.

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent QB Daniel Jones is a player head coach Shane Steichen hopes returns to the team next season, and Steichen said he believes Jones wants to re-sign with the team.
Huddle Up: Jones threw for 3,101 yards and 19 touchdowns before suffering his season ending injury, so he should have multiple teams interested in him if he hit the free-agent market. He will probably open next season as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he decides to remain with the Colts.
