Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta (back) underwent back surgery, and head coach Dan Campbell said LaPorta's chances of returning this season are "very, very slim."
Huddle Up: That's a huge blow for the offense as backup Brock Wright had just two catches for eight yards last week. They'll have to rely more on their running game, which is something they've gotten away from in recent weeks. Wright is a matchup play, but only in deep leagues.

Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta (back) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 15.
Huddle Up: LaPorta will miss at least the next four games, so fantasy players should keep an eye on his status for the next several weeks. Brock Wright will likely take over as the starting tight end for the Lions with LaPorta out. He will probably see a few targets each game but is unlikely to be a starting option in most leagues.

Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta (back) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 14, and has been ruled out for Week 11.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players can keep an eye on the situation to see how long LaPorta will be sidelined. Brock Wright is in line to join the starting lineup, but he is also dealing with an injury. Fantasy players may want to avoid all of the Lions tight ends this week.

Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta (back) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 13.
Huddle Up: LaPorta has missed the first two practices of the week, so he may be a game-time decision for Week 11. He is a weekly starting option in all leagues when healthy, but fantasy players will need a backup plan ready in case he sits out.

Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players should monitor the situation during the week to see if LaPorta will be able to play in Week 11. He has posted at least 50 yards in four of his last five games and has three touchdowns during that span. He will be a No. 1 tight end in all leagues if he is able to play.

Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta caught all five of his targets for 53 yards in a 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 10.
Huddle Up: LaPorta has now finished with at least five receptions and 50-plus receiving yards in four of his last five games, and he seems to have carved out a steady roll in the passing attack. LaPorta looks like a weekly TE1 at this point.

Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta caught six of his eight targets for 97 yards and a touchdown in a 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9.
Huddle Up: LaPorta has been hitting his stride in recent weeks, topping 50 yards and scoring a touchdown in three of of the last four games. LaPorta has topped 90 yards twice in that span, and he looks like the No. 2 option in the Detroit passing attack and a TE1 in all formats.
