Baltimore Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell (knee) is "on schedule" in his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament but will not be ready by training camp and isn't expected to return to action until "sometime during the season," head coach John Harbaugh said on Wednesday, May 22.
Huddle Up: When healthy in 2023, Mitchell proved to be an explosive weapon out of the backfield and was nearly a top-25 RB in PPR from Weeks 9 through 15, despite not seeing more than nine carries or two receptions in any game. Mitchell's tear was a full one, and with it occurring late in the season, it's no surprise that he won't be ready for the start of 2024. He'll be someone to monitor as the season progresses, as he could provide a boost to running back-needy owners during the season. However, Derrick Henry will dominate touches out of the backfield, so Mitchell may not see a ton of work upon his return.

Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said there is a "strong chance" that the team will select a running back in the 2024 NFL Draft. He believes a lot of backs will be chosen between the third and fifth rounds and said that the Ravens have looked at a lot of the players projected to be drafted during those rounds. RBs Derrick Henry, Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell are currently the top three players on Baltimore's depth chart at the position.

Baltimore Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell (knee) has chance to return during the 2024 season, according to general manager Eric DeCosta on Thursday, March 14. Mitchell tore his ACL in December.
Huddle Up: With Derrick Henry leading the backfield, Mitchell's upside is likely capped as a change-of-pace back. That, coupled with the injury, makes him a player to avoid until we get a firmer timeline for his return.

Baltimore Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Huddle Up: The ACL injury Mitchell suffered in Week 15 is a sad end to what was a brief moment of brilliance. Given how late in the season his torn ACL occurred, it seems unlikely that the undrafted free agent will be able to take part in training camp or start the 2024 regular season on time. The Ravens will move forward with Gus Edwards as the lead back and Justice Hill as the change-of-pace/primary passing-down option.

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell (knee) suffered a torn ACL, according to sources Monday, Dec. 18.
Huddle Up: Mitchell was already expected to miss the remainder of the season due to a significant knee injury he suffered Sunday night. He's expected to make a full recovery, and Gus Edwards likely will be an RB3 option moving forward.

Updating an earlier report, Baltimore Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell (knee) has a "serious injury" to his knee, according to head coach John Harbaugh, who added that "it looks like he won't be back for the rest of the season."
Huddle Up: The injury to Mitchell robs Baltimore of one of its most explosive players and thrusts Gus Edwards back into a prominent role. Justice Hill could also see more work, and the team will reportedly elevate Melvin Gordon to the 53-man roster. At this point, only Edwards is guaranteed fantasy value in the final weeks, and even that could be dicey based on a mix of tough matchups and potential seeding considerations.
