Free-agent WR Mike Evans (Bucs) officially agreed to terms on a three-year, $42.4 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, March 12.
Huddle Up: Evans could be projected as the WR1 for the 49ers heading into training camp. If he goes into the season as one he could be a WR3 or flex option with flashes of WR2 weeks.

Impending free-agent WR Mike Evans (Buccaneers) is reportedly expected to sign a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Monetary terms were not immediately disclosed.
Huddle Up: Evans snapped an 11-season streak with at least 1,000 receiving yards in 2025 due to injuries that limited him to just eight games. A model of consistency throughout his long career, Evans is expected to sign with the San Francisco 49ers as he enters his age-33 season in 2026. He'll be a featured target in that 49ers offense and should be a low-end fantasy WR2 who posts a handful of WR1 weeks throughout the season.

Updating a previous report, while Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent WR Mike Evans will test the waters when the window opens Monday, March 9, he and his agent will allow the Bucs to counter any offers before he accepts anything from a new team.
Huddle Up: Evans had an injury-plagued 2025, but he was still productive when on the field. And, he provides tremendous veteran leadership while always being a good citizen in the NFL. Wherever Evans lands, he is still likely to be a WR3 for fantasy purposes in 2026, but be sure to have depth on hand, as Father Time is catching up to him.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent WR Mike Evans is expected to hit the open market, and the Cleveland Browns are one of the multiple teams expected to be interested in his services. New head coach Todd Monken, formerly Evans' offensive coordinator in Tampa, could be one factor giving Cleveland a leg up.
Huddle Up: While the Monken factor plays a role, Evans is also 32 years old, and he expressed an interest to go to a Super Bowl contender. If that's the case, then the Browns are likely out of the race before it has even starter, as this team isn't close to being a contender. And, if familiarity is a factor, Evans wouldn't be expected to leave Tampa in the first place. Wherever Evans lands, he is still likely to be a WR3 for fantasy purposes in 2026, but be sure to have depth on hand, as Father Time is catching up to him.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free agent WR Mike Evans reportedly has interest from the Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans in free agency 'if the right deal is struck', in the opinion of Tony Pauline of EssentiallySports.com on Thursday, March 5.
Huddle Up: Evans snapped an 11-season streak with at least 1,000 receiving yards in 2025 due to injuries that limited him to just eight games. A model of consistency throughout his long career, Evans is slated to hit free agency in a couple of weeks and will have a robust market as he enters his age-33 season in 2026. No matter where Evans lands, he'll be a featured target in that offense and should be a low-end fantasy WR2 who posts a handful of WR1 weeks throughout the season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent WR Mike Evans' representatives have reportedly met with the Buccaneers, who will 'aggressively pursue' re-signing him, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent WR Mike Evans wants to do an analysis of all 32 teams on the free-agent market, but he still has interest in returning to the Bucs. "I can't go out here and say, 'Oh, yeah. We're looking for a new team.' I mean, that hasn't been the mindset here," Evans' agent Deryk Gilmore said. "We basically just want to do an analysis. When you're making a business decision, you want to sit down, go through, do your checks and balances, make sure you evaluate everything you do, and then from there, when you're making a decision, you're not making an emotional decision."
Huddle Up: Evans was extremely productive in the short window he was on the field last season. So look for whatever team he plays for to maybe put him on a pitch count to avoid the numerous injuries he has played through over the years. He'll be a WR3 stud of an acquisition in PPR leagues.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht says WR Mike Evans earned his chance to test the open market but adds, "He knows we'd love to have him back."
Huddle Up: Mike Evans is testing the open market, but the Bucs remain the favorites to retain him this free agency cycle. If he returns to Tampa Bay, Evans would likely be the WR1 for the team, but with so many mouths to feed, he would likely be a WR3 or flex play at this point in his career.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent WR Mike Evans is expected to play in 2026, but it is unlikely he will have a franchise tag slapped on him to prevent him from leaving via free agency. The thinking is that Evans would just elect to retire, rather than be forced to play in Tampa. There are no reports he is unwilling to return to Tampa, but he might choose to play for a team he feels is closer to winning a Super Bowl in what is likely to be his final year.
Huddle Up: Evans had an injury-plagued 2025, and it might not make a lot of business sense for the Buccaneers to spend a huge chunk of money on him, either. Whether he runs it back in Tampa, or is in another uniform for 2026, he remains worthy of a roster spot in fantasy football, but he is likely to be more of a WR3 or flex option at this point.
