New England Patriots RB Sony Michel's (foot) status for the start of the regular season is uncertain at this point.
Huddle Up: Michel's uncertain status is probably a ready the team is adding Lamar Miller. Michel likely will be the starting running back when healthy, but the team has used multiple running backs over the last several seasons. Fantasy players can consider Michel as at least a No. 3 running back when healthy.

Free-agent RB Lamar Miller (Texans) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New England Patriots Monday, Aug. 10. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: The Patriots have Sony Michel, Damien Harris, James White and Rex Burkhead on the roster, so it is not known how Miller would be used in the offense. Fantasy players can keep an eye on the situation during camp, but Miller probably will not have much fantasy value unless Michel's foot injury keep him from playing Week 1.

New England Patriots QB Cam Newton on Friday, Aug. 7, declared himself fully ready for training camp. 'At this particular time, I'm full go,' Newton said in a video conference call.
Huddle Up: Newton first will have to stay healthy and then also beat out Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer for the starting gig. If A and B are accomplished, Newton will enter the season as a QB2 but one with considerable upside.

New England Patriots QB Jarrett Stidham on Friday, Aug. 7, said it's 'been a wild ride this offseason ... I'm happy to get rolling.' He also added that he's looking forward to the 'competition' with QBs Cam Newton and Brian Hoyer.
Huddle Up: Stidham's familiarity with the offense gives him an early leg up, but most expect Newton will quickly assume the reins if he's healthy. If Stidham somehow wins the job, he's a low-end QB2 at best.

New England Patriots WR Mohamed Sanu (undisclosed) passed his physical and was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, Aug. 4, according to a source.

New England Patriots WR Mohamed Sanu (undisclosed) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Sunday, Aug. 2, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Sanu struggled after his trade to the Patriots and posted only 207 yards in eight games. He probably will be a top three receiver for the Patriots if he can remain healthy and should be rostered in most fantasy leagues in 2020.

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (foot) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Sunday, Aug. 2, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Michel probably will miss some practice time during camp because of his injury but appears to be on track for the start of the regular season. He can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy running back if he is healhy.

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel's (foot) status for the start of training camp is uncertain at this point, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Michel is recovering from offseason foot surgery but still has time before the start of the regular season. He will be the starting running back for the Patriots when healthy and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in fantasy leagues.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman participated in a throwing session with QB Cam Newton that Newton posted on his Instagram account Wednesday, July 22.
Huddle Up: Tom Brady's top target for much of the past decade now has a new guy spinning the rock his way, so it's good to see the two getting acclimated. Timing is key to Edelman's role in the passing game, making their rapport all that much more important. Assuming Newton stays healthy, Edelman is a fairly safe bet for WR2 numbers in PPR formats. He often can be had as a third wideout.

New England Patriots QBs Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer have been working out with teammates this past week. WR Mohamed Sanu, WR Gunner Olszewski, RB Damien Harris and TE Dalton Keene were among the players participating in the workouts.
Huddle Up: Stidham will be competing with Cam Newton for the starting job during training camp, so fantasy players should keep an eye on the situation. Stidham may have an edge in the competition since he is familiar with the offense but would only be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he wins the job.

Free agent RB Lamar Miller (knee) is close to making a full recovery from the torn ACL he suffered in the 2019 preseason. He will need teams to bring him in for a medical exam before he can sign.
Huddle Up: Miller was a top-24 fantasy back in each of his last five seasons prior to 2019, but he has the older running back coming off an injury stigma working against him as well as the COVID-19 restrictions on workouts. He remains well off the fantasy radar for now.

New England Patriots QB Jarrett Stidham is still believed to be in line for the Week 1 start by several members of the organization, according to talk radio host Scott Zolak Monday, July 13. 'I believe Jarrett is going to be the starter from the people that I talk to, the people that I trust: the players, people tied to the team, team captains,' Zolak said. 'The way they speak of Jarrett Stidham and the work he has put in.'
Huddle Up: Zolak cites the recently-signed Cam Newton's lack of practice time with his new teammates as a reason for the Pats to stick with Stidham for at least the start of the season. Still, it's tough to envision Newton not surpassing him early in the season. Stidham shouldn't be drafted in standard, single-quarterback leagues.

New England Patriots WR Mohamed Sanu shared a video of himself working out with QB Jarrett Stidham Monday, July 13.
Huddle Up: Sanu had previously be seen working out with the recently-signed Cam Newton, so he seems to be keeping his options open with the expected top-two QBs on the depth chart. Sanu's upside, like that of every Patriots receiver this season, will be much higher with Newton under center.

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (foot) is no longer wearing a walking boot on his surgically repaired foot.
Huddle Up: Michel will be ready for training camp and should receive most of the carries this season but will have to share snaps with several other backs. He should be considered at least a No. 3 running back in fantasy leagues.

Free-agent RB Lamar Miller (knee) posted a video that showed him running and cutting after he missed the entire 2019 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Huddle Up: Miller looked good, but with the restrictions on taking physicals, it could be difficult for someone to pick him up. Surely someone will eventually, though, and he could be an RB4 in fantasy that could climb higher.

New England Patriots WR N'Keal Harry was filmed running routes with QB Cam Newton Wednesday, July 8.
Huddle Up: Harry was never able to find a true groove with former Patriots QB Tom Brady (Buccaneers) last season while being limited to just seven games. He caught 12 of 24 targets for 105 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie. Newton could take better advantage of Harry's downfield abilities if fully healthy in 2020. The early reps are certainly a good sign for what hopes to be the Patriots' top duo in the passing game.

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots QB Cam Newton can earn $7.5 million next year if he hits all the incentives and wins the Super Bowl. He has a $1.05 million base salary, which $550,000 is guaranteed. He can earn $43,750 per game in roster bonuses, up to $700,000. He can earn a maximum of $3.75 million in playing-time incentives with $500,000 in Pro Bowl and All-Pro bonuses. He can earn a maximum of $1 million from $250,000 bonuses for each playoff win with above 50 percent playing time.
Huddle Up: Newton is in the best spot he could have wished for, but the team still lacks proven weapons around him. He'll be a midrange QB2 in fantasy, but he could ultimately outplay that draft status if he's finally healthy.

New England Patriots RB Damien Harris has a 'great future' with the team, according to running backs coach Ivan Fears, and Mike Reiss of ESPN.com believes Harris 'is a good bet to take a significant leap in 2020.'
Huddle Up: Considering Harris wasn't even active most weeks as a rookie, it won't exactly take much for him to take a big leap. At best, he will probably be third in line for touches in the backfield, and he remains no more than a lottery ticket in dynasty formats.

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots QB Cam Newton's deal guarantees him $550,000 with a $1.05 million base salary. He can earn $700,000 in per-game roster bonuses and another $5.75 million in incentives. He can earn a maximum of $7.5 million.
Huddle Up: Newton signed a dream deal for the Patriots, and he can still be franchise tagged next year. He's in probably the best spot he could have landed in to rejuvenate his fantasy stock as well. He'll be an upper-to-midrange QB2 in fantasy with upside.

New England Patriots QB Cam Newton was not guaranteed the starting job, according to a source Monday, June 29. The job will go to the best quarterback in training camp and the competition will include Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer.
Huddle Up: Newton certainly has the highest fantasy potential of the three candidates and all other members of the offense will likely be much more valuable with Newton under center than either Stidham or Hoyer.

New England Patriots QB Cam Newton received some interest from the Cleveland Browns during free agency, but the two sides did not have any serious talks.
Huddle Up: The Browns have Baker Mayfield as their starter, so Newton may have been a backup option for the team. Mayfield will look to bounce back from his 2019 season and will be part of one of the better offenses in the NFL. He should be at least a high-end No. 2 quarterback and could be a No. 1 in some leagues. Newton likely will compete for the starting job in New England and could be a starting option in leagues.

New England Patriots WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) will be 'faster, quicker, leaner, and in better shape' than he was in 2019 after undergoing offseason surgery for a high-ankle injury, according to trainer Hilton Alexander. Alexander said Sanu was a 'shell of himself' after being acquired from the Atlanta Falcons.
Huddle Up: There'll be plenty of room for Sanu to operate in the Patriots' thin receiving corps. He's expected to serve as the No. 3 option behind Julian Edelman and N'Keal Harry, but working with QB Jarrett Stidham or Brian Hoyer will limit any fantasy potential. He likely won't be a consideration until injuries and bye weeks become factors later in the season.

New England Patriots WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) is ahead of schedule in his recovery from ankle surgery. He currently weighs 202 pounds, which is less than his official listing by the team.
Huddle Up: Sanu struggled after his trade to the Patriots last season but will have the chance to be a top three receiver for the team in 2020. Fantasy players can keep on his status during training camp to see if he suffers any setbacks. He could be a No. 4 or No. 5 fantasy received depending on his role.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman caught 69 passes while lined up as the slot receiver during the 2019 season, which was tied for the most among wide receivers.
Huddle Up: Edelman has been a reliable receiver for the Patriots for many years and likely will continue to be a popular target for the next starting quarterback. He should be considered at least a No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

New England Patriots RB Damien Harris could receive a lot of snaps during the early part of training camp because RB Sony Michel (foot) will be recovering from foot surgery.
Huddle Up: Harris was not used much on offense last season but could earn a role if he performs well during camp. He will still be behind Michel and James White on the depth chart and probably will only be a waiver wire option during the season.

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (foot) had surgery on his foot in May, according to sources. The surgery was a maintenance-based operation to help relieve discomfort that Michel had been experiencing. It's unknown whether he'll be ready for training camp.
Huddle Up: Michel slipped to 3.7 yards per carry last season, and he has dealt with multiple knee injuries. This will be a make-or-break year for him as he enters the fray as a low-end RB2 in fantasy.

New England Patriots QBs Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer have been working out together this offseason.
Huddle Up: Stidham and Hoyer will be competing for the starting job during training camp and the preseason. Stidham may be the leading candidate at this point, but Hoyer has experience in the offense. Fantasy players in all leagues probably can avoid whoever wins the competition.
