San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle agreed to a five-year, $75 million extension Thursday, Aug. 13, that includes an $18 million signing bonus. The contract language is still being worked out.
Huddle Up: Kittle is an elite tight end that should be among the top two or three taken universally in fantasy.

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle has made healthy progress in contract extension talks with the 49ers, but the two sides have not reached an agreement at this point, according to sources.
Huddle Up: It appears the two sides have a good chance to reach an agreement before the start of the regular season. Kittle will continue to be a top option in the passing game for the 49ers and should be one of the first tight ends selected in all fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo is no longer wearing a knee brace in practice this year.
Huddle Up: Garoppolo had previously said his knee is back to 100 percent following his 2018 injury, and shedding the brace is further confirmation. A more mobile Garoppolo could lead to a few more big plays, but he should probably still be viewed as more of a high-end QB2 than a every-week fantasy starter.

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle has not made much progress in contract extension talks with the 49ers at this point, according to his agent.
Huddle Up: Kittle has been one of the top tight ends in the NFL over the last few seasons and will continue to be a focal point in the passing game for the 49ers. He should be selected early in fantasy drafts and will be a weekly starting option.

Free-agent TE Jordan Reed (Football Team) officially signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Aug. 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Reed has dealt with injuries during his career but has posted solid numbers when healthy. He will be the No. 2 tight end for the 49ers behind George Kittle but should have a decent role in the passing game. Reed probably should be considered a No. 2 fantasy tight end in most leagues.

San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon (knee) has looked sharp catching passes out of the backfield during training camp, according to QB Jimmy Garoppolo. 'Even just throwing routes on air this offseason, he runs them differently than most running backs and he has a feel that's like a receiver, but he feels space like a quarterback,' Garoppolo said.
Huddle Up: McKinnon has missed consecutive seasons while recovery from a knee injury, but he will rejoin the backfield in 2020. It sounds like he could carve out a role on passing downs, but for now, he is a late-round flier in PPR formats, at best.

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo provided an update on his knee Tuesday, Aug. 4, saying the difference has been night-and-day from last season and 'it's able to do whatever it needs to do.'
Huddle Up: Garoppolo didn't seem to be hindered too severely while guiding the Niners to the Super Bowl, and he has never provided much in terms of fantasy contributions via rushing yards. Perhaps an improved ability to scramble would help him cut back on last season's 13 interceptions. He should be viewed as a low-end QB1 or high-end QB2.

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle isn't particularly close to a deal, according to sources.
Huddle Up: Kittle was third in fantasy points in PPR leagues last season, but he missed two games, which would have put him on par with Travis Kelce for the fantasy TE crown. He'll be a top-two option again this season.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (foot) was placed on the Non-Football Injury list Tuesday, July 28.
Huddle Up: General manager John Lynch previously said Samuel may miss some games at the start of the season. Rookie WR Brandon Aiyuk should step into a big role from Week 1. WRs Jalen Hurd and Kendrick Bourne will also see more work behind TE George Kittle.

Updating previous reports, San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (foot) is not on a timeline in his recovery from a fractured bone in his foot, according to general manager John Lynch. 'Not going to put an exact timeline on it, but it's fair to say he may miss some games at the start of the year.'
Huddle Up: While it should not come as a surprise to anyone, but Samuel's "no timeline" timeline fits the original prognosis that had him likely missing the first few games of the regular season. Stay the course if he's already on your team, and those looking to draft soon need to closely monitor the situation. Samuel still has upside as a WR2 if it all optimizes, but he's looking more like a third WR draft target who could emerge as the season wears on.

Updating an ongoing story, San Francisco 49ers Raheem Mostert will receive extra incentives and a bonus in his reworked contract, per a source. No new years were added to his deal, and Mostert is under contract for two more seasons. He is due $2.575 million in base salary and can earn an additional $2.75 million via incentives and a $300,000 bonus.
Huddle Up: The potential for a holdout or trade has been alleviated, and Mostert offers one of the more intriguing risk-reward RB2 targets for fantasy footballers. Consider him as early as the end of Round 3 in conventional formats, and he's generally going in the fourth or fifth, which is bound to stabilize now that the deal is sorted out.

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert recently talked with a high-ranking member of the 49ers to clear the air and get on the same page moving forward, according to sources. Mostert asked for a trade earlier in the month, but it is not known if he is still seeking a trade.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players should keep an eye on the situation to see if Mostert will be with the 49ers again this season. He was a big part of the running game last season and could see more touches since Matt Breida is no longer with the team. Mostert should be at least a flex option in fantasy leagues if he receives a similar workload in 2020.

Free-agent TE Jordan Reed (Redskins) has three teams interested in signing him, and Reed intends to play in 2020.
Huddle Up: It's tough to envision a team putting all of its eggs in the Jordan Reed basket in 2020, but as Ian Rapoport pointed out, this is a low-risk, high-reward signing situation. The veteran is notoriously injury-prone and would likely be added as a situational player, rather than a full-time starter. Given the connection to the Jacksonville Jaguars with now-offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, it's reasonable to assume a possible pairing with fellow marshmallow Tyler Eifert.

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo owned the second-lowest air yards percentage (47.0) over the last two seasons (2018-19), according to Pro Football Focus data.
Huddle Up: That's troublesome for a quarterback who isn't throwing much to begin with as Jimmy G. ranked 19th in pass attempts in 2019. Keep him valued in the mid-QB2 range.

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle recorded 621 yards after the catch during the 2019 season and was the only tight end in the NFL to recorded at least 600 yards after the catch.
Huddle Up: Kittle has been one of the main focal points in the passing game for the 49ers and may have an even bigger role early in the 2020 season because of Deebo Samuel. He should be one of the first tight ends selected in all fantasy leagues and is a must-start option.

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert is looking to be paid similarly to what the highest-paid running backs on the roster are scheduled to make, according to Mostert's agent. RB Tevin Coleman is scheduled to make $4.55 million next season, which is what Mostert would like to make.
Huddle Up: Mostert has asked for a trade, but the 49ers may decide to keep him with or without a new contract. He is coming off his best season and would have a significant role if he stays with the 49ers. Fantasy players should monitor the situation because Mostert could be at least a flex option in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers WR Kendrick Bourne has had contract extension talks with the 49ers this offseason, but it is not known how much progress they have made during the talks, according to the Athletic's Matt Barrows.
Huddle Up: Bourne has a good chance to earn one of the starting jobs out of training camp and should see a solid amount of targets in the passing game. He should be rostered in all fantasy leagues and could be a starting option against certain opponents.

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert has had contract extension talks with the 49ers this offseason, but it is not known how much progress they have made during the talks, according to The Athletic's Matt Barrows.
Huddle Up: Mostert had a breakout season in 2019 and will continue to have a significant role in the offense this upcoming season. He has a chance to be at least a No. 3 running back in fantasy leagues and can be a flex option in most leagues.

San Francisco 49ers first-round draft choice WR Brandon Aiyuk signed a four-year contract with the 49ers Friday, June 26. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Aiyuk will have a solid role in the passing game during his rookie season and could win a starting job during training camp. He has a chance to be at least a No. 4 fantasy receiver and could be a starting option against certain opponents.

San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk could have a 'bigger role' early in the season than initially planned because of the injury to WR Deebo Samuel (foot), according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
Huddle Up: Aiyuk's dynasty value was already high, and if additional opportunities come his way early in the year, he could become an asset in redraft leagues as a rookie. Consider him a WR4 for now.

San Francisco 49ers WR Richie James (wrist) broke a bone in his wrist while training recently, according to sources, and is expected to be sidelined at least two months.
Huddle Up: With Deebo Samuel (foot) and now James sidelined into the preseason and perhaps beyond, young wideouts such as Brandon Aiyuk, Kendrick Bourne and Jalen Hurd will be forced into more reps and could prove to be fantasy finds early in the season. Most definitely a situation to keep an eye on.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (foot) said he expects to return to the field in 10 weeks.
Huddle Up: Samuel probably will miss most of training camp and could miss the start of the regular season. Samuel is a starting option in all fantasy leagues when healthy, but fantasy players may need to find a replacement for the first few weeks.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (foot) suffered a Jones fracture in his foot while working out Thursday, June 18. He will have surgery today, performed by Dr. Robert Anderson, and Samuel should be able to return to full strength in three to four months.
Huddle Up: Welp ... This is a damning blow to the fantasy value of QB Jimmy Garoppolo, but more importantly, the second-year receiver's promising 2020 outlook is now in jeopardy of coming to fruition. In best-case scenario, three months means he could play in Week 2, but the four-month window puts Samuel back on the field somewhere around Week 5 or 6, depending upon his conditioning. He falls from being one of the top breakout receiver targets to a WR3 gamble in deeper leagues. The 49ers are likely to examine the free-agent pool for depth.

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle caught 59 passes that resulted in either a first down or a touchdown during the 2019 season, which ranked second among tight ends.
Huddle Up: Kittle has been one of the top tight ends in the NFL over the last several seasons and will see plenty of targets again in 2020. He will be one of the first tight ends selected in fantasy leagues and will be a weekly starting option.

San Francisco 49ers WR Kendrick Bourne has been working out with QB Jimmy Garoppolo on a consistent basis over the last several weeks.
Huddle Up: Bourne is in line for a bigger role this upcoming season and may be one of the starting receivers for the 49ers. He can be a late round option in fantasy leagues but probably will not be a weekly starting option.

San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk participated in a workout with QB Jimmy Garoppolo and some of his other teammates Wednesday, June 10. Aiyuk said he was recently medically cleared for football activities.
Huddle Up: Aiyuk is expected to have a solid role in the passing game during his rookie season and could compete for one of the starting jobs. He will be a popular pick in keeper leagues and could be a No. 4 or 5 receiver in standard leagues.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel forced 18 missed tackles during the 2019 season, which was tied for second in the NFL.
Huddle Up: Samuel had a terrific rookie season and finished with 802 yards and three touchdowns. He is expected to join the starting lineup this upcoming season and should see more targets in the passing game. Samuel can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle forced 20 missed tackles during the 2019 season, which ranked first among wide receivers and tight ends.
Huddle Up: Kittle has been one of the top tight ends in the NFL over the last several seasons and should continue to be a focal point in the passing game for the 49ers. He will be one of the first tight ends to be picked in all drafts and will be a must-start option each week.

San Francisco 49ers RB Tevin Coleman led his team with 26 red-zone carries in 2019. He also scored a team-high five touchdowns on those rushes.
Huddle Up: The 49ers are fully-expected to use a multi-headed committee out of the backfield in 2020, but Coleman should have the inside track on work near the goal line. He's worth adding late in drafts as an RB4/5.
