San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (knee) likely will be limited during practice this week because of irritation in his knee, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Huddle Up: McCaffrey probably will not do much during practice this week but should be fine for Week 13. He has played very well since joining the 49ers and is a must-start option in all leagues if active.

San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) is expected to miss six to eight weeks because of a sprained medial collateral ligament.
Huddle Up: Mitchell probably will miss the rest of the regular season, so he will not be a help to fantasy players. Jordan Mason could see a bigger role with Mitchell sidelined but probably can be avoided in most leagues.

Updating an earlier report, San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) is believed to have suffered a sprained MCL during the team's Week 12 win over the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Mitchell will undergo additional tests, but the team is hopeful this injury is not as serious as the one he suffered earlier this season.
Huddle Up: If Mitchell misses time we'll likely see an uptick in work for Christian McCaffrey while rookie Tyrion Davis-Price seems the logical choice to step into the RB2 role. Those seeking running back help could scoop up TDP in hope that he'll see decent usage in the weeks ahead. As for Mitchell, wait for an update before deciding whether to hold or jettison the oft-injured back.

San Francisco 49ers RB Jordan Mason rushed five times for 25 yards in Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints and he was not targeted in the pass game.
Huddle Up: Mason could move into the backup role behind Christian McCaffrey if Elijah Mitchell is forced to miss time. The latter left with an MCL injury, although it is not believed to be as serious as the one he suffered previously. Mason would be worth adding in deeper fantasy leagues, as he would be one CMC injury away from a prominent role.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed 11 times for 32 yards in Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints while adding four grabs for 17 yards on six targets.
Huddle Up: McCaffrey didn't do much, splitting the load with Elijah Mitchell. The latter left with what is being called an MCL injury, although not as serious as his MCL ailment earlier in the season. It's good short-term news for CMC and his fantasy managers, as he might have a bigger piece of the backfield pie in the coming weeks.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) is officially active for the Week 12 game.
Huddle Up: Samuel should receive his normal workload against the New Orleans Saints and can be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Week 12, the team announced on Friday, Nov. 25.
Huddle Up: Samuel appears to be on the less favorable side of questionable after not logging a single full practice this week. If he sits, Brandon Aiyuk becomes a strong flex play and Jauan Jennings could return low-end flex value in deeper formats.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) was limited in practice for the second straight day on Thursday, Nov. 24.
Huddle Up: There has been nothing to suggest that Samuel is in danger of missing this game, but we'll be keeping a close eye on the Friday injury report just to make sure. Samuel hasn't been the WR1 everyone was expecting to start the season but he reminded us all last week why he still needs to be in lineups after tallying 94 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. Consider Samuel a WR2 until we see more of the elite production he showed in 2021.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 23.
Huddle Up: Samuel may be resting his hamstring during practice, but fantasy players will have a better idea of his status in a few days. He should be a starting option in all fantasy leagues if he is active for the game.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey handled 11 of the first 16 carries from the team's running backs in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers before Elijah Mitchell secured 13 of the final 16 such rush attempts.
Huddle Up: Week 10 marked the first time McCaffrey and Mitchell were both active. There has been some panic from fantasy managers in recent days that CMC and Mitchell will split carries moving forward, but that appears to be a bit premature. The fact McCaffrey handled so much of the early rushing work suggests he will continue to operate as the team's clear lead back. Mitchell's likely role will be as a closer. Assuming coach Kyle Shanahan sticks to his Week 10 plan moving forward, McCaffrey should remain a top-three option in fantasy and Mitchell should be a viable flex option and one of the most valuable handcuffs in fantasy.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is unlikely to handle a heavy workload moving forward, as head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday, Nov. 14, that his goal is to give McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell "about even carries" moving forward.
Huddle Up: There are several layers to peel back here, which likely includes Shanahan trying his best to keep both of his backs healthy given their recent injury histories. Another thing to consider is that Shanahan says nothing about Mitchell taking any of CMC's work away from him in the passing game. Last but not least, the 49ers figure to hold the lead in most of their games moving forward. Considering how much Shanahan loves to run the ball, there should be ample rushing work for both players. McCaffrey should remain an elite RB1 option, while Mitchell could easily maintain flex value.

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle had just one catch for 21 yards on his two targets in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Huddle Up: The catch and target totals were each season lows, and the poor game ended his modest two-game touchdown streak. Despite the poor performance he remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals in Mexico City.

San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) will be activated from the Reserve/Injured list in the near future, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Huddle Up: Mitchell will no longer be the starter for the 49ers but could see some touches during games when he returns. He can be a handcuff to Christian McCaffrey or a possible flex option in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) was a full participant in practice all week and was removed from the injury report for Week 10 on Friday, Nov. 11.
Huddle Up: Samuel, who is in the midst of a wildly disappointing 2022 season, will return after a one-game absence. He should be in lineups but is merely a flex option with upside.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 10.
Huddle Up: Samuel should be involved in the running and passing game this week and is a must-start option in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Huddle Up: Samuel appears to be on track to play in Week 10 and likely will see his normal workload. He is a must-start option in all leagues when healthy.

San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) was designated for return from the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Nov. 7.
Huddle Up: This opens up a 21-day window for Mitchell to be activated, although it seems likely he would not have been designated to return unless he was close to being ready to play. When Mitchell does return, he will likely serve as a breather back for Christian McCaffrey. It is a role that will have value because he will be the primary handcuff in one of the best rushing attacks in the league, but it figures to be a role that won't allow for much standalone value.

San Francisco 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (knee) indicated that he expects to be activated from the Reserve/Injured list in time to play against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Nov. 13. The team is currently on bye this week.
Huddle Up: The team's willingness to trade Jeff Wilson suggested Mitchell was close to returning, but it sounds like he may be ready to roll in their next game. Obviously the backfield pecking order has changed dramatically since he got injured, and Mitchell will doubtless play the No. 2 role behind Christian McCaffrey. Given the latter's injury history, however, Mitchell is a smart handcuff for CMC owners or a nice stash candidate as a standalone.

San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk caught all six of his targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in a 31-14 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8.
Huddle Up: Aiyuk has topped 80 receiving yards in three straight games, and he has become of the steadiest weapons in the San Francisco offense and a solid WR3.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed 18 times for 94 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams, while adding eight grabs for 55 yards and a score on nine targets, and he also tossed a 34-yard touchdown to WR Brandon Aiyuk. He is the first player since Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson of the then-San Diego Chargers to run, catch and throw for a touchdown in the same game. LT2 last accomplished the feat in 2005.
Huddle Up: McCaffrey had an OK game in his debut last week, but it's safe to say he is now comfortable with the playbook after his first full week with the Niners organization. He should really be up to speed after a bye in Week 9 gives him a chance to learn the playbook even more. We'll next see him in Week 10 on Sunday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers.

San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings (hamstring) was limited in practice on Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.
Huddle Up: If he plays, Jennings has the potential to return low-end flex value with Deebo Samuel (hamstring) ruled out. Brandon Aiyuk is the 49ers receiver to start, though.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) did not practice on Friday, Oct. 28, and has been ruled out for Week 8.
Huddle Up: With Samuel sidelined, Brandon Aiyuk becomes the No. 1 option at wide receiver in San Fran this week and is a strong flex option. Jauan Jennings (hamstring, questionable) could also see more looks and return low-end flex value, but he isn't certainly to play.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) did not practice for a third consecutive day on Friday, Oct. 28.
Huddle Up: Fantasy managers should find out for sure within the next hour or so, but it appears as though Samuel will not play in Week 8 - especially with a bye week coming up. Even if he draws a questionable tag, it may not be worth the risk. Assuming Samuel misses this game, Brandon Aiyuk would be in the WR2 conversation. Samuel's absence should free up more touches for Christian McCaffrey and more targets for George Kittle as well. Jauan Jennings would also be flex-worthy in deeper leagues.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Huddle Up: Samuel is considered day-to-day because of the injury and could be a game-time decision this week. He is a weekly starting option in all leagues when healthy, but fantasy players should have other options ready in case he sits out.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) is considered day-to-day because of a hamstring injury.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players will need to keep an eye on the situation during the week to see if Samuel will be able to play in Week 8. Samuel is a weekly starting option in all leagues when healthy.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed eight times for 38 yards and caught both of his targets for 24 yards in a 44-23 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.
Huddle Up: Despite having just a couple of days to acclimate to the offense, McCaffrey led all backs in touches. More importantly, his role in the offense should only grow moving forward.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is officially active for the Week 7 game.
Huddle Up: McCaffrey has only had a few days with the playbook, so he likely will have a limited role this week. He could still be a starting option in fantasy leagues because of his playmaking ability.
