San Francisco 49ers RB Kaelon Black ran the ball eight times for 33 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday, Aug. 20.
Huddle Up: Black, who recently returned from a groin injury, is part of the competition to back up Christian McCaffrey alongside names like Jordan James (ribs), Isaac Guerendo (pec), and Zamir White. Whoever earns that job will be a priority handcuff selection for CMC owners given the veteran's durability concerns. If you're drafting before the team names a backup, Black, a third-round pick, seems like the best bet at this stage.

San Francisco 49ers WR De'Zhaun Stribling caught four of his five targets for 46 yards during the preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers Thursday, Aug. 20.
Huddle Up: The hype has been building around Stribling throughout the offseason, and his solid showing Thursday will add fuel to the fire. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him carve out a role in the offense sooner rather than later, and Stribling seems well worth a flier in the later rounds.

San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy completed four of his six passes for 29 yards and rushed once for three yards during the preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers Thursday, Aug. 20.
Huddle Up: Purdy has dealt with injuries, but he has typically delivered solid results when he is on the field. Purdy can be a low-end QB1, but you may want to pair him with a reliable backup option.

San Francisco 49ers WR Mike Evans (left quad tightness) came out of practice on Tuesday. He was icing his quad and watched the remainder practice, according to HC Kyle Shanahan on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
Huddle Up: Evans has been a bastion of consistency in his NFL career, starting out his career with 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons before losing a huge chunk of time in 2025 with a hamstring strain, concussion and a broken collarbone. Joining the 49ers in 2026, Evans is in uncharted water heading into his age-33 season with a new team. For fantasy purposes, a healthy Evans is a low-end WR2 with flashes of WR1 upside this season.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (muscle tightness) would have practiced on Tuesday, Aug. 18, if they were not joint sessions, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Huddle Up: It appears McCaffrey is healthy despite missing time ahead of the new season. Fantasy players should still feel confident that he can be an RB1 this season.

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (Achilles), on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, feels positive about his on-field rehab. "I'm hitting numbers I need to hit. I'm pretty close," Kittle said.
Huddle Up: Kittle is still touch-and-go during training camp, and there remains hope he'll be ready for the regular season opener. While Kittle is worth drafting as a low-end TE1 due to his health status, we all know what he can do when he is 100 percent. If you draft him in the middle rounds on draft day, just make sure to have an alternate plan in the event he is unavailable for the regular-season opener.

San Francisco 49ers WR Mike Evans (quadriceps) is participating in practice Saturday, Aug. 15.
Huddle Up: Evans has missed time during camp because of the injury but seems to have recovered from the injury. He will be the main receiver for the 49ers this season and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (tightness) is not participating in a second-consecutive practice on Tuesday, Aug. 11, but was working on the field earlier, according to a source.
Huddle Up: McCaffrey does not appear to be dealing with any serious issues, but fantasy players should check on his status later in the week. He was one of the top players in fantasy football last season and will see plenty of touches again this season. He will be one of the first players selected in leagues and is a must-start weekly option.

San Francisco 49ers WR Mike Evans (quad) returned to practice on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Huddle Up: Evans projects as a WR for the 49ers when healthy, but the soft tissue injuries continue to pile up. Fantasy players should monitor his health this preseason and make sure to have a backup plan for the regular season in case more issues arise.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (undisclosed) is not participating in practice Monday, Aug. 10, because of tightness.
Huddle Up: McCaffrey does not appear to be dealing with any serious issues, but fantasy players should check on his status later in the week. He was one of the top players in fantasy football last season and will see plenty of touches again this season. He will be one of the first players selected in leagues and is a must-start weekly option.

San Francisco 49ers WR De'Zhaun Stribling (hamstring) was back at practice Saturday, Aug. 8, and he was able to catch balls from multiple quarterbacks on multiple routes, making several splash plays. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Stribling has been picking things up in a hurry.
Huddle Up: With Ricky Pearsall recovering from knee surgery to repair a posterior cruciate ligament, the door is open for the rookie Stribling to secure a meaningful role in the offense. Veterans Mike Evans and Christian Kirk are expected to start, and Deebo Samuel is back, and obviously knows the offense well. But, it could be argued that Stribling has the most upside of all of those players. Stribling should be considered as a WR5 with upside, worthy of fantasy consideration in redraft leagues. He has much more value in long-term dynasty formats, however.

San Francisco 49ers WR Mike Evans (quadriceps) did not practice Saturday, Aug. 8, but he was able to work on the side. Evans reportedly appears close to full strength, and head coach Kyle Shanahan said Evans likely feels like he can return right now, but the team wants to be smart with the veteran receiver.
Huddle Up: The team isn't interested in getting Evans on the field for preseason games, as they know what he is able to do. They're more interesting in getting Evans ready for the regular-season opener Sept. 10 against the Los Angeles Rams in the game Down Under in Melbourne, Australia. Evans will turn 33 years old on Aug. 21, but even at this advanced age for the NFL, he should again be productive for fantasy managers. Target him as a low-end WR2 or flex fantasy option, and hope he can continue to defy Father Time with his new organization. Make sure to have alternate options on hand, however, just in case.

San Francisco 49ers WR Christian Kirk (calf) remained sidelined from practice Saturday, Aug. 8, as he continues to recover from a calf injury.
Huddle Up: Kirk is vying for a big role in the San Francisco offense opposite fellow offseason acquisition Mike Evans, who is also sidelined with a quadriceps injury. Deebo Samuel is also in the mix, as well as Jacob Cowing, DeMarcus Robinson, rookie De'Zhaun Stribling and Jordan Wilkins. If Kirk has win a starting job, he could be a low-key fantasy sleeper worth nabbing in the middle to late rounds. He could surprise if he is able to stay healthy.

San Francisco 49ers WR De'Zhaun Stribling (hamstring) is back at practice on Thursday, Aug. 6. He has not practiced since Saturday.
Huddle Up: Stribling has a chance, if he is healthy, to step up and become the 49ers' WR2 with Ricky Pearsall out for the year. If he steps into that role through camp, he could be an interesting WR3 or flex option in lineups.

San Francisco 49ers WR De'Zhaun Stribling (hamstring) will not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Huddle Up: Stribling is dealing with a soft tissue injury, so the team is unlikely to rush his recovery with the regular season over a month away. Stribling in line for a bigger role with Ricky Pearsall out for the season and can be a late round pick in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers WR Mike Evans (quadriceps) will not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Huddle Up: The 49ers will likely take their time with Evans because he is a veteran, so fantasy players should keep an eye on his status over the next few weeks. He will be the main receiver for the 49ers when he is ready to play and can be at least a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) will be out of action for around nine months after he undergoes surgery, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner. That means he should be fully recovered well ahead of training camp in 2027.
Huddle Up: With Pearsall to miss all of 2026, he's a nonfactor in standard formats. For those in keeper leagues, however, the prudent move would be to keep Pearsall on an IR slot if you can spare the room. He's flashed when healthy, and he'll likely be playing for his NFL future (and a second contract, unless the 49ers unexpectedly exercise his fifth-year option) next year. Motivation doesn't get much higher.

San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk has yet to apply to the NFL for reinstatement or inform the team that he plans to report for training camp. As such, Aiyuk remains on the reserve/left squad list, which means he does not count on the team's roster or salary cap.
Huddle Up: Aiyuk can essentially force the 49ers' hand at any time, though to this point he has elected not to, being content to air his greivences via social media. With no timetable for a resolution, Aiyuk remains nothing more than a final-round flier fantasy owners can stash on their bench.

San Francisco 49ers WR De'Zhaun Stribling (hamstring) is considered day-to-day because of a hamstring injury.
Huddle Up: The team will likely be cautious with Stribling because of the type of injury, so fantasy players can check on his status later this week or next week. He is in line for a bigger role this season with Ricky Pearsall not available and could be a late round pick in deeper leagues.

San Francisco 49ers WR Mike Evans (quadriceps) is not participating in practice Monday, Aug. 3, because of strained quadriceps.
Huddle Up: Evans will likely receive plenty of time to recover since it is early in training camp, but fantasy players can keep an eye on the situation. He will be the top receiver for the 49ers this season and can be at least a No.3 receiver in fantasy leagues if healthy.

San Francisco 49ers WR De'Zhaun Stribling (hamstring) was held out of today's training camp practice due to hamstring tightness, according to a source on Saturday, Aug. 1.
Huddle Up: Stribling has a chance to capitalize on multiple injuries in training camp, including a season-ending injury to Ricky Pearsall. For Stribling, you have to be on the field to do that, and hopefully this is just a minor blip on the radar. Consider Stribling a late-round pick with upside in fantasy football drafts this summer.

San Francisco 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall (PCL) will be placed on season-ending injured reserve, according to GM John Lynch on Saturday, Aug. 1.
Huddle Up: The newly-signed Deebo Samuel and rookie De'Zhaun Stribling will be the beneficiaries of this unfortunate injury by Pearsall, which will end his 2026 season before it started. Consider both Samuel and Stribling late-round picks in fantasy football, but it's more likely they're waiver wire options to see if they can have a fantasy-relevant role right away.

San Francisco 49ers WR De'Zhaun Stribling is "making the most" of his opportunities while WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) and WR Christian Kirk (calf) are sidelined, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com.
Huddle Up: While it remains to be seen if Stribling will carve out a steady role as a rookie, a fast start to training camp certainly won't hurt his chances. If Pearsall's knee continues to be an issue, Stribling becomes a lot more intriguing as a late-round swing.

San Francisco 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) will miss the entire 2026 season if he needs to undergo surgery on his injured knee, according to NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation because Pearsall was in line for a big role in the passing game if healthy. De'Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson will likely see increased roles if Pearsall is sidelined. Stribling can be a late round pick in fantasy leagues with the chance to become a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver depending on the role.

San Francisco 49ers RB Jordan James appears to be "next up" behind RB Christian McCaffrey, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com.
Huddle Up: James will have to fend of rookie Kaelon Black, but if James does secure the backup running back role, he will be a must-own handcuff for Christian McCaffrey owners.

San Francisco 49ers WR Christian Kirk reportedly walked off the field with a trainer midway through Sunday's practice session, but we should get some definitive word from acting HC Chris Foerster about Kirk, according to a source on Sunday, July 26.
Huddle Up: Kirk has been productive throughout his NFL career. Heading into his ninth NFL season, Kirk has been on the field for 21 of a possible 34 games due to various injuries, including two hamstring injuries last season. Kirk is battling for a WR3 role with second-round rookie De'Zhaun Stribling, but will likely go undrafted in the majority of seasonal fantasy football leagues this summer and early fall.

San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk will remain on the left squad list, and the team will focus on the players that reported for training camp, according to general manager John Lynch.
Huddle Up: It seems like Aiyuk will remain away from the team for now, so he may not play this season unless he is released or traded at some point. Fantasy players can avoid Aiyuk until there is a resolution to his situation.

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (Achilles) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, July 25.
Huddle Up: Kittle is still recovering from his Achilles injury, so fantasy players will need to monitor his status during camp to see if he will be available for Week 1. He is a main part of the passing game when healthy and can be a No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers FB Kyle Juszczyk could be used as a tight end in training camp if TE George Kittle (Achilles) is forced to the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, as insurance in case the starter isn't ready to begin the regular season. However, he is also considered an important part as a lead blocker, as the team looks to jump-start its rushing game.
Huddle Up: Juszczyk is a jack-of-all-trades, and he'll see a healthy amount of snaps and a handful of touches. But, even if he were to add a few more targets, he wouldn't have much fantasy value outside of the deepest of leagues.
