Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson said he expects to test the free-agent market next year after the team declined the former first-rounder's fifth-year contract option. 'I think I'm hitting free agency next year. I won't be the first, won't be the last,' Doctson said. 'It's nothing to be sad about, be mad about. Someone wants you there, so it's all love.' The 26-year-old will play out the 2019 season on a cap hit just under $3.2 million.
Huddle Up: Doctson has 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns off of 81 career receptions. The Redskins took two wide receivers in the 2019 NFL Draft and veteran Paul Richardson also returns. The receiving corps is expected to work with either veteran QB Case Keenum or rookie Dwayne Haskins this season, with either likely limiting the fantasy returns for their pass catchers. Doctson could return to relevance on a new, better team in 2020.

Huddle Up: Doctson has been playing through a lower-back injury, catching 3-of-6 targets for 30 yards in Week 16 at Tennessee, but likely will need to get back on the practice field Friday before anyone will feel good about him playing in Sunday's finale.

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson caught three of his six targets for 30 yards in Week 16 versus the Tennessee Titans.
Huddle Up: Doctson was drafted in the first round in 2016 with the idea he could use his size and athleticism to stretch the field. Unfortunately, the Redskins have rarely ever tried to utilize him in that way - first because he struggled to stay healthy and more recently because Washington hasn't employed a quarterback able or willing to let him track down 50-50 balls. Doctson is safe to leave on the waiver wire for the foreseeable future.
