Former Nebraska inside linebackers coach Barrett Ruud has been hired by the Atlanta Falcons as their new inside linebackers coach. The team also hired Los Angeles Rams offensive assistant Nick Jones as their new assistant offensive line coach and Los Angeles Chargers offensive quality control coach Chandler Whitmer as a pass rush specialist.

The Tennessee Titans placed LB Barrett Ruud (groin) on the Injured Reserve Tuesday, Dec. 13, ending his season.

Huddle Up: For those that are in IDP leagues, we understand your frustrations with Ruud. He should have been a shoo-in for big-time production as the Titans' MLB. Aside from three games this season, his production was ho-hum at best. Rookie Colin McCarthy has stepped in since Ruud's injury and has been a monster. We wouldn't be shocked if McCarthy were the starter in the middle in the 2012 season. Ruud was rumored to move to the WLB spot when he was in Tampa, so perhaps he'll challenge the aging Will Witherspoon there. It's a situation to watch for IDPers.

Roy Cummings, of The Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Barrett Ruud said he is not sure if he will attend the team's mandatory minicamp next week.

Huddle Up: Ruud is one of the elite IDP linebackers, so we'd prefer to see him in camp getting ready for the season, even if it is just minicamp. The Bucs have a new coach and some new wrinkles on defense, so better to get a handle on those in June than try to pick them up in August.
