New York Jets RB La'Mical Perine (ankle) is returning to practice Thursday, Sept. 17, after sitting out with an ankle injury.
Huddle Up: Perine, a rookie fourth-round pick, missed the team's season opener last weekend, and there is some fantasy buzz with starter Le'Veon Bell landing on injured reserve this week. For now, though, veterans Frank Gore and Josh Adams are expected to handle the bulk of the backfield workload, leaving only a smattering of touches for Perine if he's active Sunday.

New York Jets fourth-round draft choice RB La'Mical Perine signed a four-year contract with the Jets Thursday, July 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Perine probably will not see a lot of snaps since he is behind Le'Veon Bell and Frank Gore on the depth chart but could have a role in the passing game. Fantasy players should keep an eye on the situation during training camp, but Perine will not be a starting option most weeks.

New York Jets fourth-round pick RB La'Mical Perine worked on his receiving skills in the offseason, according to Orlando Sentinel reporter Edgar Thompson, who works the Florida Gators beat. 'He has great hands, he's a very good receiver,' Thompson said. 'He worked with the receivers during the offseason, honing his route-running skills. So he's a threat out of the backfield.'
Huddle Up: Perine has a good chance to be second in the pecking order to Le'Veon Bell, who may have lost a step in his own right as well. Perine is a great dynasty chip with some sneaky upside in 2020.

New York Jets RB Lamical Perine is expected to compete for the No. 2 running back job during training camp.
Huddle Up: Perine should have a good chance to win the job and could receive a handful of touches each game. He could be a handcuff to Le'Veon Bell in fantasy leagues but can be avoided in most leagues.
