The Cleveland Browns signed free-agent QB Caleb Hanie (Ravens) to an undisclosed deal.

Huddle Up: If Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden can't play Sunday against the Patriots, the Browns will turn to Hanie or practice-squad QB Alex Tanney. In that case, it would prove to be the best defense for red-hot receiver Josh Gordon.

The Baltimore Ravens signed free-agent QB Caleb Hanie (Broncos) to a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Joe Flacco's shiny new deal doesn't lave much room for a quality backup, tempering any expectations for Hanie, whose last action consisted of going 0-4 down the stretch in 2011 in place of injured starter Jay Cutler and helping cost the Bears a playoff berth.

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox said the team will re-sign free-agent QB Caleb Hanie.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: In a salary-saving move, the Broncos waived Hanie and went with rookie Brock Osweiler as Peyton Manning's backup in Week 1. Still, while Hanie doesn't have the most glittering of No. 2 QB track records, he at least brings some NFL experience to the position.

The Denver Broncos and free-agent QB Caleb Hanie agreed to a two-year deal Saturday, March 24, according to a source familiar with the situation. Hanie was a former standout at Colorado State during his college days.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Hanie will serve as the backup to Peyton Manning. This is another way of saying the Broncos are very confident in the health of Manning's neck.

The Denver Broncos are working on an agreement with free-agent QB Caleb Hanie.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Hanie would back up Peyton Manning in Denver. Given Manning's neck issues, it's prudent for the Broncos to have an experienced back-up.

The Chicago Bears are not expected to re-sign impending free-agent QB Caleb Hanie this offseason.

Huddle Up: This is your fate when you lose all four starts and only throw three touchdowns versus nine interceptions.

The Chicago Bears plan to rely heavier on the running game in the absence of QB Jay Cutler (thumb), according to head coach Lovie Smith.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: They already were relying on the running game to some degree, they're ranked 12th in the league in rushing attempts. Now with Cutler out look for Bears OC Mike Martz to load up Matt Forte with as much as he can handle. A road game at Oakland is a pretty rough gig for Caleb Hanie's first start but the Raiders are actually ranked 28th against fantasy QBs.

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith said Monday, Nov. 21, he has confidence QB Caleb Hanie can guide the team to wins while QB Jay Cutler is out of the lineup. "(I expect) the same play from our quarterback position," Smith said. "Caleb has played a lot for us around here. We feel comfortable with him being our quarterback. It's always next guy up. We've had injuries at other positions, and that's what it will be. We're a good football team, and we still plan on winning."

Huddle Up: Hanie has yet to throw a regular-season touchdown pass, but he went 15-for-20 with a TD and two picks in relief of Cutler in the NFC title game last year so he has a little experience. It's been difficult to trust any Bears receiver with a fantasy start; Hanie's presence makes it even tougher and also takes Cutler BFF Earl Bennett off the radar as well.

Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz said QB Caleb Hanie will definitely be the No. 2 quarterback behind Jay Cutler this season.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Hanie was thrown to the wolves in the NFC title game and threw for 153 yards and one touchdown in the fourth quarter. He also threw two picks but the Bears were in wild hurry-up mode and Hanie had never even taken first-team practice reps before.

Chicago Bears impending free-agent QB Caleb Hanie said he would not mind re-signing with the team but is willing to sign with another team if he is offered the opportunity to compete for a starting job, reports Sean Jensen, of the Chicago Sun-Times.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: One half of a playoff game is a relatively small sample size, but Hanie's solid showing might have some of the many QB-starved teams in the league looking to him as a possible solution.
