Dallas Cowboys QB Trey Lance completed 20-of-34 passes for 244 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 18 against the Washington Commanders, while he ran six times for 26 yards.
Huddle Up: Lance accounted for zero touchdowns, and it doesn't look like he did enough to unseat Cooper Rush as the backup quarterback going forward. Lance has some amazing physical tools, but it doesn't look like his game is good enough to make him an NFL starter in 2025 or beyond.

Dallas Cowboys QB Trey Lance will be the starting quarterback for the Cowboys in Week 18, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Lance has not received much playing time since joining the NFL, so the Cowboys want to take a look at him in a regular season game. He probably should be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Dallas Cowboys QB Cooper Rush will start again in Week 12 but backup QB Trey Lance will have some packages, head coach Mike McCarthy said on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Dallas Cowboys QB Trey Lance replaced QB Cooper Rush during a 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10, completing four of his six passes for 21 yards and an interception. He also rushed three times for 17 yards.
Huddle Up: It remains to be seen if the Cowboys will turn to Lance with the playoffs likely out of reach, but even if he does start, he doesn't need to be rostered in fantasy leagues.

There is a strong possibility that the Dallas Cowboys could use certain offensive packages over the final weeks of the season that feature QB Trey Lance, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Huddle Up: With QB Dak Prescott (hamstring) expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 season, Cooper Rush will serve as the Cowboys' starting quarterback and Lance will be the backup. However, both Rush and Lance are in the final year of their contracts and have the opportunity to show that they could be a serviceable backup to Prescott in 2025 with a solid performance down the stretch. At this point, neither player is a recommended option for fantasy lineups.

Dallas Cowboys QB Trey Lance is "close to being a master of the system" and "has a really high understanding (of the team's offense)," according to head coach Mike McCarthy.
