Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick likely will be the starting quarterback for the third preseason game, according to head coach Brian Flores.
Huddle Up: The Dolphins probably will decide after the third preseason game if Fitzpatrick or Josh Rosen will be the starting quarterback for Week 1. Fitzpatrick has had some success in the past, but fantasy players probably should avoid the Miami quarterback situation during drafts.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick could start a second straight preseason game Friday, Aug. 16, when the Dolphins visit the Buccaneers, head coach Brian Flores said Tuesday, Aug. 13.
Huddle Up: The 36-year-old Fitz remains ahead in the Fins' QB derby, but that's really only notable for fantasy in extra large or two-QB leagues.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has the early edge over Josh Rosen in the battle to start at quarterback, head coach Brian Flores said Tuesday, July 30. 'It's pretty clear to me that Ryan Fitzpatrick is leading the way,' Flores said. 'He's done that in a lot of areas, from leadership to production on the field to the meeting rooms to the walk-throughs. This is an ongoing competition, but right now he's leading the way.'
Huddle Up: Not a huge surprise, but whoever winds up winning the Week 1 gig will undoubtedly be on a short leash. Regard both as low-end QB3 options for now who aren't really draftable outside of two-QB leagues.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick opened training camp with the first-team offense Thursday, July 25.
Huddle Up: There is a good chance Fitzpatrick will open the year as the starter, but he has never had much success in a full-time role, and Josh Rosen will likely be given a chance to showcase his skills at some point. At best, Fitzpatrick could be a midrange QB2 for a few weeks.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick showed impressive leadership skills during offseason workouts and was clearly the better quarterback during practice, according to one Dolphins player.
Huddle Up: Fitzpatrick will compete with Josh Rosen for the starting job during training camp, so fantasy players can monitor the competition. Fitzpatrick has played well at times over the last few seasons but probably would only be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he wins the job.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick took reps with the first-team offense during OTAs Tuesday, May 14.
Huddle Up: Fitzpatrick had some big games for the Buccaneers last year, but he also delivered his share of duds. Even if he does beat out Josh Rosen for the starting gig, he doesn't have the weapons in Miami to be more than a low-end QB2.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has a big believer in head coach Brian Flores. 'He brings leadership, he brings intelligence, he brings toughness,' Flores recently told SiriusXM NFL Radio. 'We've had a couple really good talks. Obviously, I coached against him (when Flores was a defensive assistant with the New England Patriots) and I just think he's a really good player. I'm looking forward to watching him play. I think his best days are ahead.'
Huddle Up: The 36-year-old Fitzpatrick did average an impressive 26.7 fantasy points per game in eight appearances last season with the Bucs, but now he moves on a new and unknown offense and a downgraded set a weapons in Miami. And even if he winds up starting the majority of Miami's games this coming season, expect a top-end QB2 season from Fitzpatrick at the very best.

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buccaneers) on Sunday, March 17, signed with the Miami Dolphins. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
Huddle Up: Fitzpatrick has landed with his eighth team in 15 years, and becomes the immediate favorite to open the 2019 season as the starter for the Dolphins, who likely also will draft a quarterback next month. Despite the gaudy stats he posted during several games in his FitzMagic run with the Bucs last season, he's nothing more than a QB2 at the very best.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston replaced QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in the Week 11 game against the New York Giants and completed 12 of his 16 passes for 199 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a 38-35 loss.
Huddle Up: Winston and Fitzpatrick keep swapping the starting job, and both have looked better when coming on in relief of the other. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Winston draw the next start, and since the Buccaneers are usually playing from behind, he has some streaming upside.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was benched in the third quarter of the Week 11 game Sunday, Nov. 18, after throwing his third interception of the contest. He was replaced by Jameis Winston.
Huddle Up: FitzMagic has been negated by turnovers and poor red-zone offense of late, and the Bucs pulled the plug Sunday after seeing three straight possessions end in Fitzpatrick INTs, including a pick-six. Fitzpatrick has thrown seven picks and lost a fumble in the last three games since being reinstated as the team's starter, but Winston, of course, has also been benched with his own turnover issues, and it's simply going to be too hard to trust Bucs QBs going forward.
