Free-agent CB Morris Claiborne may still return to the Dallas Cowboys, after the club declined his fifth-year option. 'I think Claiborne has a real good chance to surprise,' owner Jerry Jones said recently, via the team's official website. Claiborne lost 30-40 pounds this offseason, after having surgery done on both of his knees.
Huddle Up: The former sixth-overall pick has been a huge disappointment with only 25 starts and three interceptions in three seasons. Last season, he was limited to four games as he ruptured the patella tendon in his left knee a week after he walked out of practice after being informed he was being benched. The bottom line: Claiborne has this summer to make an impression or his days in Dallas will be done, and he certainly can't be counted on for any IDP production until he reverses his career spiral.

Dallas Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne (hamstring) isn't expected to return until after their bye week for Week 12.
Huddle Up: That's almost a month of IDP time, and it's not the best of news either for a Dallas D that's already seen more than its share of injuries this season.

Dallas Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne (knee) underwent an MRI on his injured knee, but it did not show any structural damage. The team does not believe the injury is serious.
Huddle Up: Claiborne, entering his second season, is seen a key piece in the Cowboys' new-look D after a ho-hum rookie season in which he had 8 passes defensed and one interception in 15 games (all starts).

Dallas Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne was praised by head coach Jason Garrett for how far he has come along in the last year. "I think he's much further along than when he showed up here last year," Garrett said last month after the Cowboys ended their OTAs. "He's a good football player, very talented. Like with all rookies, there's a lot to learn when you get here. I think he's done a good job learning from the experiences he had as a player last year."
Huddle Up: Claiborne, the 6th overall pick in the 2012 draft, started 15 games but had a largely uneventful rookie season with 1 interception, 8 passes defensed and 55 total tackles. This year brings the arrival of Monte Kiffin and the Tampa 2 defense, and it sounds like the CB and the ageless Kiffin are a good match so far.

Dallas Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne (knee) participated in practice Wednesday, Aug. 15, and is expected to play in their preseason game Saturday, Aug. 18.
Huddle Up: The Cowboys are eager to see what their prize draft pick (7th overall selection) can do in an NFL game. The former LSU standout missed Dallas' preseason opener with a sprained MCL, and Dallas envisions a starting CB tandem of Claiborne and free-agent pickup Brandon Carr. The ulterior goal is improving a defense which ranked 23rd overall in passing yards allowed per game.
