Seattle Seahawks first-round draft choice Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Ohio State) signed a four-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, May 11. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Huddle Up: Smith-Njigba was the first receiver drafted in April and figures to take on a key role - mostly in the slot - right away while DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett operate mostly outside. While it seems unlikely that the rookie will outperform either of the veterans in 2023, his selection signals that Seattle is likely ready to make three-wide sets a staple of their offense. Early drafters should consider Smith-Njigba a WR4 with significant WR3 upside.

Ohio State WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Smith-Njigba missed most of last season while battling a hamstring injury, but in the previous year, he was the best Buckeye receiver in a group that also featured Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. He should find plenty of room to work out of the slot with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett playing outside.
