Free-agent WR Brice Butler (Cardinals) says he will be re-signing with the Dallas Cowboys, posting an 'I'm backkkkk!!' tweet Tuesday, Sept. 18, along with a photo of himself in a Cowboys uniform. The team has not made an offical announcement.
Huddle Up: Butler caught 43 passes for 794 yards and six TDs from 2015-17 with the Cowboys, but his addition would just add another body to a fantasy-unfriendly wide receiver logjam. Six Dallas wideouts have drawn at least two targets so far with only one, Tavon Austin, owning double-digit fantasy points (standard scoring) through two games, and that came courtesy of his 64-yard scoring grab Sunday night. Stay away until the situation gains some clarity.

Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk is not in the mix for the No. 2 receiver job, according to Mike Jurecki of 98.7 Arizona, and Jurecki believes either WR Chad Williams, WR JJ Nelson or WR Brice Butler will win the job.
Huddle Up: Kirk could still have a role in the passing attack as a rookie, a role that could grow as the season goes on. He is still worth a flier at the end of drafts, and his long-term upside makes him a potential first-round option in rookie drafts.

Dallas Cowboys WR Brice Butler caught two passes for 57 yards in a 35-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Oct. 8.
Huddle Up: Butler was held to 12 yards and a touchdown the week before. It was a better effort, but QB Dak Prescott has so many receiving targets to pick from it's hard to tell how Butler will do from week to week. Avoid using him as a regular unless someone else gets hurt and Butler takes a bigger role.

Dallas Cowboys WR Brice Butler posted two receptions for 12 yards and a touchdown in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams on his two targets.
Huddle Up: Butler managed just two of the 27 targets directed toward Dallas wideouts, so that tells you all you need to know about his fantasy value. Despite the touchdown, avoid him in Week 5 against Green Bay.

Dallas Cowboys WR Brice Butler set a new career high with 90 receiving yards in the team's Week 3 win Monday, Sept. 25, opposite the Arizona Cardinals, doing so on two receptions. He also scored a touchdown.
Huddle Up: Those catches were also the only targets Butler saw for the evening, meaning owners shouldn't overreact to this rare performance. The five-year veteran would need an injury or two within the receiving corps to become relevant in fantasy leagues.

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent WR Brice Butler will sign a one-year contract to return to Dallas once free agency officially opens, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Butler carved out a niche role in the offense as a vertical weapon and red zone threat. He played well when Dez Bryant was injured. Butler is a late-round flier if Terrance Williams does not return in free agency.

Dallas Cowboys WR Brice Butler (hamstring) said Tuesday, Oct. 7 he hopes to return after the team's bye next week. He is targeting a return in Week 7 against the New York Giants.
Huddle Up: Butler could return to a Cowboys' receiver rotation that also gets Dez Bryant back, as there is talk out of Dallas he may be ready post-bye as well. Either way it's difficult to see Butler having an impact in the Cowboys' passing game worthy of fantasy attention.

Oakland Raiders WR Brice Butler was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Huddle Up: The 6-3, 205-pound Butler, a 2013 seventh-round pick who has caught 30 passes for 383 yards and a pair of TDs over the last two seasons, gives the Cowboys' Dez Bryant-less WR corps some added size, but it'll take a few weeks for him to acclimate to his new team and it's hard to envision him having any consistent usable fantasy value even when he does get up to speed.

Oakland Raiders WR Brice Butler could receive more playing time moving forward after making a big play in each of the last two weeks. Butler said he has not lobbied for more playing time but hopes his play speaks for itself.
Huddle Up: Butler has certainly flashed over the last 2 weeks with 119 yards and a TD on 4 catches, but there's just limited room for individual upside in the Raiders' offense with rookie Derek Carr throwing to a number of similarly-talented wideouts in Butler, James Jones, Andre Holmes and Denarius Moore.

Oakland Raiders WR Brice Butler might have seen his chances at cracking the 53-man roster placed in serious jeopardy when the team brought in WR Greg Little. The team is likely to keep six receivers, with WRs James Jones, Denarius Moore, Rod Streater, Andre Holmes and Little as the top five.
Huddle Up: That puts Butler -- a 7th-round pick who last season hauled in 9 passes for 103 yards as a rookie -- in a battle for the sixth and final WR spot -- if they do indeed keep that many -- but the useful fantasy production figures to only run 2-3 deep among the contingent in any case.
