Chicago Bears QB Austin Reed, TE Brenden Bates, OL Theo Benedet, OT Jake Curhan, DE Jamree Kromah, DL Dashaun Mallory, LB Micah Baskerville, LB Carl Jones Jr., DB Leon Jones, DB Reddy Steward, S Ro Torrence, LS Cameron Lyons and P Corliss Waitman were waived Tuesday, Aug. 27. The team also released FB Khari Blasingame, WR Collin Johnson, TE Stephen Carlson, OT Aviante Collins, DT Byron Cowart and CB Tarvarius Moore. OT Larry Borom (ankle), DE Jake Martin (undisclosed) and WR Dante Pettis (undisclosed) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list with Borom and Martin designated to return later in the season.

Western Kentucky QB Austin Reed had the best performance of any quarterback at the Shrine Bowl practices, according to Ian Cummings of Pro Football Network, and Cummings believes Reed is on an upward trajectory heading into the 2024 NFL Draft.
