Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey might see a little more help in the backfield, as head coach Ron Rivera searches for a secondary runner. '(McCaffrey) him touching the ball was no concern,' Rivera said. 'It was just the extra plays. So we have to look at that and find a way to take that load from him.' The team re-signed RBs Cameron Artis-Payne and Elijah Hood, they drafted RB Jordan Scarlett, signed Elijah Holyfield as an undrafted free agent and have RB Reggie Bonnafon in the mix as well.

Huddle Up: McCaffrey will remain a first-round fantasy selection who will be the bellcow in Charlotte, but a little more rest, particularly late in games with the outcome already decided would not be a bad thing for C-Mac's long-term health. Fantasy owners shouldn't be terribly concerned.

Carolina Panthers RB Cameron Artis-Payne ran 16 times for 56 yards and a touchdown in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints in his most extensive action of the season.

Huddle Up: With nothing to play for the Panthers powered down Christian McCaffrey and gave CAP a chance to play and show what he can do. He'll likely return in 2019 as the backup to CMC, but his fantasy value is basically predicated upon disaster striking McCaffrey and the Panthers.

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey may cede a bit of work on passing downs moving forward to Cameron Artis-Payne, as head coach Ron Rivera expressed concern about the rookie's continued ability to hold up against linebackers. 'It?s one of the things you get concerned with having Christian in there. ? There?s some really good things that Cap (Artis-Payne) has done this week, so if the right situation comes in, (he) may get some opportunities,' Rivera said.

Huddle Up: This doesn't sound like anything overly concerning for owners of McCaffrey, as it might actually be a good thing for his ability to make it to the season if he can avoid taking a few unnecessary hits. With that said, fewer snaps means fewer opportunities to make plays, so owners may want to keep an eye on this situation just to make sure. Based mostly on the strength of his heavy involvement as a receiver, McCaffrey should remain a solid RB2 in PPR formats.

Carolina Panthers RB Cameron Artis-Payne rushed 18 times for 85 yards with two touchdowns in the Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday, Oct. 10. He was not targeted in the pass game, but he has 18 touches to just six for RB Fozzy Whittaker.

Huddle Up: CAP had a big game, entering with one career touchdown in nine games played. He'll likely remain a vital cog in the Carolina offense until Jonathan Stewart is ready to return. He remains a decent low-end RB2 as long as he is getting the lion's share of the totes in Charlotte.

Carolina Panthers RB Cameron Artis-Payne rushed for 12 yards on six carries against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4.

Huddle Up: Artis-Payne has been sharing time with Fozzy Whittaker at running back while Jonathan Stewart has been sidelined but has not been much of a factor for fantasy owners. He could be a flex option in deeper leagues but probably can be avoided in most leagues.

Carolina Panthers RB Cameron Artis-Payne is expected to serve as the feature back in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings. 'All he's ever needed was the opportunity,' head coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday, Sept. 21. 'We didn't have (RB Jonathan Stewart) at the end of the season, so he got his opportunity and performed well and did some really good things. And then this preseason, I thought he had a really good preseason.'

Huddle Up: CAP was inactive for the first two games, but mainly due to his inability to play special teams. He faces a difficult matchup in his first game, as the Vikings have a strong rush defense. Still, he is worth scooping up as a RB3 and as a low-priced flyer in DFS, as it sounds like he will see more carries than Fozzy Whittaker.

Carolina Panthers RB Cameron Artis-Payne's speed has been impressive early in training camp.

Huddle Up: A late-round RB to definitely consider, especially if you're a Jonathan Stewart owner.

Carolina Panthers RB Cameron Artis-Payne has lost about 10 pounds since last season, while RB Brandon Wegher is playing faster. Both seem ready to take more playing time away from RB Jonathan Stewart.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Stewart was relatively healthy last season and played in double-digit games (13) for only the second time in the last four years, but that only means the oft-injured back could be due for a breakdown this season, meaning Artis-Payne, Fozzy Whittaker or Wegher would be asked to step in.

Carolina Panthers RB Cameron Artis-Payne is expected to get his share of opportunities in the Week 15 game against the New York Giants with RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) sidelined. 'This is a big opportunity for Cameron,' head coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday, Dec. 16. 'He's going to get some opportunities for sure. I'm excited about it. It's one of those things where we said when the time's right and Jonathan needs a break (Artis-Payne will get an opportunity), but Jonathan just kept rolling and rolling.'
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: The rookie will be in the mix with Fozzy Whittaker and Mike Tolbert to pick up the slack left by Stewart's injury. While there's fantasy value to be had in the matchup, if it's being splintered three ways it's tough to bank on any of the committee members for fantasy help this week.
