Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner was praised for his consistency by head coach Matt Patricia. 'He's somebody you can put in any situation, and he'll execute to the highest of his ability,' Patricia said.
Huddle Up: Kerryon Johnson figures to open 2019 as the starter in the Detroit backfield, but Zenner could have some value as a handcuff in deeper leagues.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner ran 21 times for 93 yards and a touchdown in Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers while posting a 30-yard reception on his two targets.
Huddle Up: Zenner excelled when given the chance, and he could slot in behind Kerryon Johnson heading into the 2019 season. He isn't someone to bother with in fantasy leagues unless injuries strike like they did in 2018.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner rushed eight times for a team-high 45 yards in Week 16 against the Minnesota Vikings.
Huddle Up: With Kerryon Johnson hurt and LeGarrette Blount with little left in the tank, it appears Zenner will carry the Lions to the finish line.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner rushed 10 times for 45 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Buffalo Bills. He added three catches on four targets for zero yards.
Huddle Up: As long as RB Kerryon Johnson (knee) is on the shelf, fantasy gamers can consider Zenner as a low-end flex play against Minnesota next week.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner got the start in Week 15 on Sunday, Dec. 16.
Huddle Up: With Kerryon Johnson still out with a knee injury, Zenner looks to have overtaken LeGarrette Blount as the Lions' top back after outperforming the latter in the previous game, rushing 12 times for 54 yards a TD. Blount had 12 carries for 33 yards in the contest.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner rushed 12 times for 54 yards and a touchdown in Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Huddle Up: Zenner and LeGarrette Blount split the backfield touches with Kerryon Johnson on the shelf, but Zenner was easily the better of the two. If Johnson is sidelined again in Week 15 then Zenner might be a useful fantasy option in some formats.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner is a player that head coach Matt Patricia is 'very confident' in and someone who has 'done a great job since he's been back.' Zenner was waived in September after being placed on the Injured/Reserve list before returning Nov. 6.
Huddle Up: With Kerryon Johnson (knee) expected to miss Thanksgiving Day against the Chicago Bears and in danger of missing multiple weeks, the Lions need someone to fill the void. Theo Riddick and LeGarrette Blount are one-dimensional backs who are nearly useless as early-down runners, so Zenner could end up leading this backfield in Johnson's absence. Zenner obviously should not be in lineups in Week 12, but he has a chance to be flex-worthy after that and is worth a speculative add.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner rushed three times for 11 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.
Huddle Up: Zenner found the end zone, which is nice, but he isn't used nearly enough to warrant fantasy consideration outside of the deepest of leagues. Unless Ameer Abdullah goes down to injury, Zenner's touch rate isn't about to change.

Lions RB Zach Zenner finished with 334 yards on 88 carries for the year and a team-high four rushing touchdowns, leading the team in rushing the last three weeks of the season. Even though Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick are expected to be completely healthy by the start of 2017, WR Anquan Boldin said in a recent interview Zenner could handle a growing role. 'I think he's a guy that definitely will take the next step next year. ? Whenever you have a young guy like that who is able to play every down, that's big. He's a guy that can run the ball effectively, catch the ball out of the backfield, he can pick up blitzes,' Boldin said.
Huddle Up: Abdullah should remain the odds-on favorite to open camp as the starter. However, Zenner flashed enough ability as a runner and receiver down the stretch to be used to be used in tandem with him if Detroit chooses to do so. Riddick should return to his usual role of 'space back'. Abdullah and Riddick should be considered low-end RB2 options next season, while Zenner can be considered a valuable handcuff.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner credits his recent success to his consistent preparation throughout the year, and he said he plans to make the most of every opportunity he is given.
Huddle Up: Zenner draws a tough matchup against Seattle to open the playoffs, but as long as he is the featured back, he will see enough touches to remain a quality RB2.
