Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku, who was franchise tagged earlier this offseason, agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension worth a reported $56.75 million - including $28 million guaranteed - on Friday, May 27. Per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Njoku's annual average value of $14.1875 million will make him the league's fifth-highest paid tight end.
Huddle Up: Not even the most optimistic Njoku supporter could have seen this coming, but it does suggest the Browns have big things in mind for the 25-year-old (26 in July). While Njoku's best season came back in 2018 (56 catches for 639 yards and four touchdowns), he has been stuck in a run-heavy offense since then. Things figure to change a bit in that regard now with Deshaun Watson, and it wouldn't be surprising if Njoku is able to emerge as a fantasy TE1 in the near future - especially with Austin Hooper no longer around.

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku is close to a new deal with the team as they're close on all but the guarantees. Njoku is skipping organized team activities until the deal is done.
Huddle Up: He probably isn't worth drafting right now with Deshaun Watson possibly missing games to start the year, but he could be worth picking up during the season.

Cleveland Browns franchise free-agent TE David Njoku has been talking with the Browns about a long-term contract. The two sides hope to reach an agreement before the July deadline.
Huddle Up: Njoku will be with the Browns for at least one more season and should be more involved in the passing game in 2022. He has played well in the past and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some deeper fantasy leagues.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent TE David Njoku had the franchise tag placed on him Monday, March 7.
Huddle Up: The tag is believed to be worth $10.834 million. Not bad for a guy that has topped out at 56-639-4, and that was four years ago. Nonetheless, he figures to be in the TE2 mix with low-end TE1 potential yet again this year.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent TE David Njoku is a candidate to receive the franchise tag this offseason, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Njoku had a bounce back season in 2021 and was the third leading pass catcher for the Browns this season. He will see a handful of targets each game if he remains with Cleveland and would be a low-end No. 1 or high-end No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku ended up with four receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown on four targets in Week 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Huddle Up: Njoku is finishing up strong, going for three or more receptions in three of the final four outings, and he has scored twice during the four-game stretch. Still, he is more of a TE2 heading into Week 18 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku caught three passes for 29 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15. He was targeted five times during the game.
Huddle Up: Njoku has been targeted 10 times in his last two games but has posted three or fewer receptions in each of his last eight games. He may lose some targets when Austin Hooper returns and can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku on Thursday, Dec. 16, was activated off the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
Huddle Up: At last some positive player availability news this for the beleaguered Browns. With fellow TEs Austin Hooper (COVID-19 list) and Harrison Bryant (ankle injury) uncertain for Saturday's game against the Raiders, Njoku is a TE2 fantasy option.
