Free-agent WR Chris Godwin agreed to a three-year, $66 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday, March 10. The deal includes $44 million guaranteed and incentives that could push his $22 million annually to $24 million per year.
Huddle Up: Godwin has had numerous season-ending injuries over the years, but he comes right back and returns to WR2/WR3 status. He'll be a WR3 option opposite of Mike Evans again this year.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent WR Chris Godwin will be "incredibly sought after" if he is not re-signed before the start of the new league year, and the New England Patriots are expected to bid handsomely for his services, according to Mike Giardi of the Boston Sports Journal.
Huddle Up: Godwin is far and away the best and most accomplished receiver that could be available next week, so it would be no surprise if the Patriots start the bidding around $25 million per season and move up from there. While the Patriots would represent a step down from the Buccaneers initially, Godwin would give Drake Maye the receiving weapon that New England has lacked for a while. Considering how long Tampa Bay has had to get this done, Godwin's odds of a return are probably 50-50 at best. Regardless of whether the Buccaneers or Patriots secure his services, he should be a solid fantasy WR2 at worst in 2025.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent WR Chris Godwin is a player the New England Patriots are interested in this offseason but members of the organization do not believe he is leaving the Buccaneers, sources told The Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan and Doug Kyed.
Huddle Up: Godwin likely will receive interest from several teams if he hits the free-agent market, but the Buccaneers seem to be the leading candidate for Godwin. He will be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues next season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin "means the world" to the organization, according to general manager Jason Licht, who told reporters on Tuesday, Feb. 25, that the team moved back the voidable year deadline on his contract recently to increase the chances of getting a deal done before the start of free agency.
Huddle Up: Head coach Todd Bowles went so far as to say that the Bucs "want (Godwin) back here in every way possible." It seems reasonable to assume the two sides will get something done over the next week or so based on the comments from Bowles and Licht. Assuming that happens, it would throw a bucket of cold water on the Jalen McMillan hype train. Assuming Godwin re-signs and returns to pre-injury form, he should be considered a strong WR2/3 option in 2025.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) was limited to seven games in 2024, but his 82.3 receiving yards and 7.14 receptions per game ranked sixth and third in the NFL, respectively.
Huddle Up: Godwin has had his share of injuries over the years, but he has been productive when healthy, and he seemed to have a strong connection with Baker Mayfield. The injury risk is undeniable, but Godwin is worth the risk if you can grab him as your WR3.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin and the team mutually agreed to push back the void date on his contract to Tuesday, March 11, which is the day before NFL free agency officially begins.
Huddle Up: This would seem to be a positive sign for Godwin to re-sign with the Bucs since it gives the two sides about two more weeks to agree to a new contract. At the very least, pushing back the void date delays the $18 million of dead money that was about to go on the team's 2025 salary cap. At this point, it appears more likely than not that Godwin will remain in Tampa and play for his third different offensive coordinator in as many years (Josh Grizzard).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent WR Chris Godwin will not receive the franchise tag this offseason. However, the team will do everything it can to retain him.
Huddle Up: Godwin is a great WR2, but he has the propensity for the serious injury. So there is risk and reward in taking him as a WR2, but he'll be a great WR3 if he falls in drafts.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) said the best-case scenario would be returning sometime during the playoffs.
Huddle Up: Godwin's fantasy season is over, and Bucs receivers outside of TE Cade Otton struggled last week. Otton is a top-five TE right now, and Sterling Shepard and Jalen McMillan look to be inconsistent flex options.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, Oct. 23. In addition, P Trenton Gill and WR Ryan Miller were promoted from the practice squad and free-agent WR Dennis Houston (Giants) was signed to the practice squad.

Updating previous reports, Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) is scheduled for surgery this week. He's undergoing an MRI Tuesday, Oct. 22, to survey the damage, but his season is over.
Huddle Up: What a bad circumstance. Godwin finally appeared to be back to himself after knee injuries derailed a blossoming career. He led the league in catches, and now it's over. Mike Evans also went down, and it's safe to assume he's probably down a bit. Sterling Shepard will be the elder statesman of a bunch that includes Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer. All three have less than 10 receptions and 100 yards. I would expect Shepard to be the underneath option and a solid PPR addition/flex candidate. McMillan will be the deep threat as he had receptions of 32 and 23 yards in Weeks 1 and 2.
