Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (shoulder) is likely to see a modified approach with the number of throws he takes leading up to the regular season, as they look to preserve the veteran.
Huddle Up: Stafford missed most of the offseason and training camp in 2025, but he responded favorably when the games got underway. He was a fantasy stud, throwing for 4,706 yards, 46 TDs and just eight INTs. As such, it wouldn't be shocking to see a similar approach by the team's coaching staff, keeping the oft-injured Stafford fresh for the season. He should once again be a top-tier fantasy quarterback, but due to his propensity for injury, have alternatives on hand.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford has had "good dialogue" with the team on his contract, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Huddle Up: Stafford has one year left with a $16 million base salary and a $48,266,668 salary cap number. The 2025 NFL MVP was second among QBs in fantasy points last season, which will raise his draft stock and increase the amount of risk in taking the 38-year-old so high as a high-end QB1.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford will likely engage in negotiations for a raise on the heels of his 2025 Most Valuable Player campaign, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Huddle Up: The 38-year-old Stafford led the league in passing yards (4,707) and passing touchdowns (46) in 2025, narrowly edging out New England Patriots QB Drake Maye for MVP honors. Even if he doesn't duplicate those numbers next season, he will continue to have a strong supporting cast surrounding him in 2026 and can be viewed as a QB1 option in all fantasy numbers.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford was named the 2025 NFL Most Valuable Player by the Associated Press, and while accepting the award, he announced that he plans to return for the 2026 season.
Huddle Up: Stafford edged out Drake Maye for MVP honors after leading the league in both passing yards (4,707) and passing touchdowns (46). While he might not be able to replicate those lofty numbers next season, Stafford will still have a strong supporting cast and figures to be in the QB1 mix in 2026.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (back) will not need to undergo surgery this offseason to repair a herniated disc in his back, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Huddle Up: Stafford entered the season with a back injury but was able to play and was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He is expected to play again next season and can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford plans to return for his 18th NFL season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who reports that Stafford has told people close to him that he believes he has "good football left."
Huddle Up: Stafford is coming off the best statistical season of his career, and he may well capture his first NFL MVP award. While the Rams came up one step short of the Super Bowl, they remain well positioned for sustained success with Sean McVay designing the offense and Stafford executing it. Drafted as a low-end QB2 for the most part for 2025, Stafford should move back into QB1 range next year, though at age 38 there will be some risk of injury and/or erosion.
