Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray has been named the starter for Week 1, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Huddle Up: Murray being in place as the starter is more of a boost to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison than anything. For Murray himself, he remains a fun starting option given that we have seen what dynamic quarterbacks can achieve in Minnesota's offense.

Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray has shown "plenty of indications" that he remains the favorite to win the team's starting quarterback job, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert.
Huddle Up: Murray winning the quarterback job seems to be closer and closer to happening. If he is named the starter, he could become a low-end QB1 with his dual-threat ability and players around him in Minnesota.

Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray took a "hefty amount of snaps" with the first-team offense Thursday, July 30.
Huddle Up: After splitting reps almost evenly with J.J. McCarthy on Wednesday, it sounds like Murray had the opportunity to work mainly as the No. 1 quarterback. If Murray is able to win the starting job, he will be a high-upside QB2 thanks to his scrambling ability.

Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray received 16 snaps with the first-team offense during practice Wednesday, July 29, while QB J.J. McCarthy received 12 snaps with the starters.
Huddle Up: Murray and McCarthy will be competing for the starting job for most of the season, so fantasy players will need to check on the situation later in the season. Murray is the more valuable quarterback for fantasy players, but both are No. 2 fantasy options at this point.

Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray and QB J.J. McCarthy will both get first-team reps as they compete for the starting job in training camp, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell.

Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray has been working out with WR Jordan Addison over the last two months leading up to training camp.
Huddle Up: Murray will be competing with J.J. McCarthy for the starting quarterback job during camp, and a connection with one of the starting receivers should help him. Fantasy players can keep an eye on the situation because Murray will likely be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he starts.

Minnesota Vikings QBs Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy's competition to win the starting quarterback job this season could go right up to the start of the season, in the opinion of Ian Rapoport of NFL Network on Tuesday, July 21.
Huddle Up: Murray has been well ahead of McCarthy according to multiple reports this offseason, but anything can happen. Coming from Arizona, Murray has a much more proven track record of production and, more importantly for fantasy managers, stability in getting the ball to the Vikings' playmakers. If Murray were to win the job, he'd be a high-end QB2 in multiple QB leagues and a streaming option at quarterback in managed, single-QB leagues for those looking for an option to plug into their fantasy lineups.

Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray appears to be the frontrunner in the competition versus QB J.J. McCarthy for the team's starting quarterback position, according to ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert. Murray is believed to have a slight edge because of his elite running ability and capability of varying the speeds and trajectories of his passes. However, both players split reps with the first-team offense at OTAs and McCarthy has demonstrated a firmer grasp of the Vikings' complex offensive scheme in recent weeks.
Huddle Up: The Vikings' starting quarterback battle is likely to spill over into the start of training camp, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell. If Murray wins the job, he can be viewed as a high-end QB2 or low-end QB1 option in most fantasy leagues, given that this is the most offensive talent he has ever had surrounding him. However, McCarthy should only be considered as a QB2 fantasy option if he is named the starter.

Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray is making it "make it hard to imagine" that he will lose the team's quarterback battle against QB J.J. McCarthy ahead of the 2026 season, according to Sports Illustrated's Will Ragatz.
Huddle Up: Kyler Murray has a chance to overperform his ADP if the Vikings can work the same magic on him as they did with Sam Darnold a few years ago. He has more talent around him than ever before, and as a result, he could find himself returning to being a QB1 in fantasy.

Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray and QB J.J. McCarthy both received work with the first-team offense during the voluntary workout this week, but McCarthy seems to be behind Murray in the competition at this point, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation during training camp and the preseason to see which quarterback is named the starter. Murray will be more valuable if he wins the job but will likely be a high-end No. 2 quarterback in most leagues. McCarthy would be a No. 2 quarterback if he is named the starter.
