Updating earlier reports, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll indicated that QB Geno Smith (elbow) was uncertain to play on Thursday, Nov. 23, against the San Francisco 49ers. Carroll said he had "no idea" as to Smith's availability, and the quarterback said simply, "We'll see how it goes." If Smith can't play, QB Drew Lock would make the start.
Huddle Up: Smith has performed at a fringe QB1 level for most of the season, and he might've been a tough sell against San Francisco regardless. Even if he's active, a compromised Smith should likely be avoided unless you have no other viable options.

Huddle Up: If the competition was close prior to Friday's preseason finale loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Lock lost any chance he had by throwing three interceptions. The news of Smith winning the job isn't great news by any stretch of the imagination, but he is probably more likely to help D.K. Metcalf maintain WR2 value than Lock would have been. Smith should only be on rosters in two-QB leagues.
