Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks will need to prove himself as a contributor on special teams to make the game day roster if he is not named as a full-time starter, according to head coach Brian Callahan.
Huddle Up: In other words, he will need to beat out Tyler Boyd for slot duties because he isn't going to bump Calvin Ridley or DeAndre Hopkins out of the lineup. Getting the nod ahead of Boyd does not have a great chance of happening, which is probably one reason why the team was trying him out as a gunner on Tuesday. Burks needs multiple players to miss games this season if he has any hopes of becoming a productive player in Tennessee.

Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks is expected to be able to play "a good role" for the team this season despite the recent additions of Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd, according to head coach Brian Callahan. "We've made very clear to Treylon that the signing of Tyler isn't about him. It's about helping our team get better. Adding better players to our team. Making us a competitive football team. What he's done and how he's worked has been great. I'm anticipating him still being able to play a good role for us. ... You (have) to have guys that can play roles. That hasn't changed. It doesn't change anything for Treylon as far as what we're expecting from him and what I'm hopeful that he's able to bring to the offense. We communicated that to him. He's aware that (signing Boyd) is not about him," Callahan said.
Huddle Up: It is notable that Callahan made a point to say that Boyd's addition was "not about Burks," but the reality is that he will be the fourth receiver at best in this offense. Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins are firmly entrenched as the top two options in the passing game barring injury, while Callahan also noted that Boyd is a "fantastic" slot receiver. As a result, Burks likely profiles as no more than a high-upside stash in deep leagues who may get occasional use as a gadget player barring an injury to the top three receivers on the roster.

Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks has been impressive during the early part of the offseason program and is learning the new offense, according to head coach Brian Callahan.
Huddle Up: Burks likely will be behind DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley on the depth chart but should still have a decent role in the passing game as the No. 3 receiver. He should see a handful of targets each game but probably will not be a starting fantasy option most weeks.

Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks is not a lock to have a significant role in 2024. "Treylon's potential is very high. First-round pick, we see all the talent. But he's going to get what he earns," offensive coordinator Nick Holz said on Wednesday, April 10.
Huddle Up: Burks has been incredibly disappointing over the first two seasons of his career after being selected with the No. 18 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Not only has he battled injury, including two concussions, but he also hasn't managed to be productive when on the field. Making his outlook less rosy, the Titans added Calvin Ridley and are bringing back DeAndre Hopkins, which means Burks is third in the pecking order, at best. On the bright side, the Titans do have a new head coach in Brian Callahan, who may be able to get more out of the Arkansas product in a what should be a more pass-heavy offense than the one Burks was in the last two years. Even still, Burks is nothing more than a late-round flyer in re-draft leagues and is hanging on by a thread in terms of being someone owners should roster in dynasty leagues.

Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks (illness) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 22, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.
Huddle Up: Burks posted 62 yards in the last game but has been targeted only six times in the two games since returning from injury. He probably will see a similar workload this week and can be avoided if better options are available.

Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks (illness) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 21.
Huddle Up: Burks still has a chance to play this week despite missing the first two practices, so fantasy players can keep an eye on the situation. He is coming off one of his better games of the season in Week 15 but can be avoided if better options are available.
