New York Jets HC Aaron Glenn told media on Tueaday, March 31, he believes in QB Geno Smith can "lead us to the promised land."
Huddle Up: Smith is coming off one of the worst seasons in his career after being benched late in the season by the Las Vegas Raiders. He comes to New York for a fresh start but it will be hard for fantasy players to by into him bouncing back in 2026.

New York Jets QB Geno Smith has been named the team's starting quarterback for 2026, according to head coach Aaron Glenn, who made an appearance on NFL Network Sunday, March 29.
Huddle Up: The 35-year-old Smith had a year he'd like to forget while playing for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025. Over 15 games last season, Smith threw for 3,025 passing yards with 19 touchdowns but led the league with 17 interceptions and was sacked 55 times. He should be viewed as a QB2 option for 2026 fantasy leagues.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith was officially traded to the New York Jets Wednesday, March 11, in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round draft choice. The Jets also received a 2026 seventh-round draft choice in the trade.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith was officially acquired by the New York Jets Wednesday, March 11, in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round draft choice. The Jets also received a 2026 seventh-round draft choice in the trade.
Huddle Up: Smith should be considered the leading candidate for the starting job next season, but fantasy players can monitor the situation during the offseason. He will likely be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he wins the starting job.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith and a 2026 seventh-round pick were acquired by the New York Jets on Tuesday, March 10, in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
Huddle Up: Smith will become the expected starter for the Jets in 2026. He may have some fantasy value in deeper leagues or 2QB ones, but he will be a volatile piece in your lineup with highs and lows.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith will be released at the start of the new league year. By releasing Smith, the Raiders will open up $8 million in salary cap space while taking on $18.5 million in dead money.
Huddle Up: With a weak QB class projected in this year's NFL Draft, Smith could latch on somewhere to have a chance to start or compete. He offers minimal fantasy appeal, though, mostly in two-QB or superflex leagues.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray and Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith are the two quarterbacks the Minnesota Vikings are prioritizing at the quarterback position, if they are released and become available, although Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa and Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins, a former Viking, are also on their radar.
Huddle Up: The team is expected to move on from J.J. McCarthy, or at least challenge him with a competition from a veteran who has won in this league. The team is casting a wide net at the position, and they are likely kicking themselves for letting Sam Darnold walk out the door.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith is expected to attract interest from multiple NFL teams this offseason if he is released, according to ESPN.com's Dan Graziano. Several coaches from clubs in need of a quarterback felt that game tape from last season suggested that the Raiders' offensive system held Smith back.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith could be cut this offseason, in the opinion of NFL.com's Matt Okada.
Huddle Up: It is hard to imagine Geno Smith earning a starting job somewhere else in 2026. For now, his fantasy value is worth keeping tabs on in deeper leagues or 2QB leagues if he is cut.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith may be a candidate to be released this offseason, in the opinion of NFL.com's Matt Okada. The team would save $8 million in salary cap space if they let him go.
Huddle Up: The Raiders will likely select a quarterback with the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, so Smith is unlikely to be a starting option if he remains with the team. He will probably be a starting quarterback for a team in 2026 but is only a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.
