Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson emerged from voluntary minicamp last week with an edge over QB Shedeur Sanders in the starting quarterback competition, according to sources.
Huddle Up: Watson turns 31 in September and is about six years from being relevant in fantasy now. If he wins the gig, he'll be a QB2 in fantasy without a lot of upside.

Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders is taking snaps with the first team offense during the team's offseason program. QB Deshaun Watson was in with the second team offense.
Huddle Up: Sanders being in the first team at this point doesn't speak to too much, but it is worth watching going forward. Watson being on the second team is what makes the most sense, given that he is coming back from his injury. Whoever starts the OTAs or minicamp is going to carry more weight, so there's no need to make any fantasy adjustments at this time.

Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders will have an open competition to see who will be the starting quarterback in Cleveland this season, in the opinion of Cameron Wolfe of ESPN on Saturday, March 28.
Huddle Up: Both quarterbacks have work to do to get in the good graces of fantasy managers. Watson is an extreme longshot to provide anywhere close to the fantasy value he did in Houston from 2017 through 2020. Sanders had moments of brilliance but also had as many moments of being a rookie fifth-round quarterback in 2025, with more interceptions (10) than touchdowns (7) in eight games and seven starts. No matter who comes out the winner in this competition, they'll be a low-end QB2 in multiple-QB fantasy formats, and a desperation streamer in single-QB leagues.

Cleveland Browns QBs Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson will be among those competing to be the team's starting quarterback in 2026, according to GM Andrew Berry on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
Huddle Up: New Browns coach Todd Monken did not commit to Sanders, who started the final seven games in 2025, as the starter at his introductory news conference. Berry also previously said that the Browns are expected to search for a quarterback addition this offseason.

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry said the team will not rule out drafting a quarterback, saying, "I wouldn't put any restraints on that."
Huddle Up: Shedeur Sanders became the team's starter in the middle of the last season. While he admits it is not off the table, it seems Sanders shareholders need not panic yet.

Cleveland Browns head coach was asked if QB Shedeur Sanders would be QB1 for the team in 2026, and he said that it is to be determined. He added he "absolutely" can earn the job, though.
Huddle Up: Sanders will likely be in the driver's seat for the Browns QB1 job during training camp. He is going to have to prove himself to a new coaching staff, and if he does, he can be a QB2 in two-quarterback leagues in 2026.

Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders made solid improvements this season but is still a work in progress, according to general manager Andrew Berry. Berry said he is not sure if the starting quarterback for next season is currently on the roster.
Huddle Up: The Browns will likely look to add a quarterback in either free agency or the NFL Draft, so Sanders will have competition for the starting job next season. He will be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in 2026 if he earns the starting job.

Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders completed 11-of-22 passes for 111 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 18 against the Cincinnati Bengals, while running three times for 26 yards with one lost fumble.
Huddle Up: Sanders got a long look down the stretch, flashing some glimpses of brilliance at times, while looking like a green rookie at other times. It's uncertain if he did enough to secure the starting job long term. If Kevin Stefanski is relieved of his coaching duties, that could change the direction the team goes at the position, too, so Sanders' outlook for 2026 is rather murky. There are a ton of very good QBs in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders (back, finger) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 2, and is not on the injury report for Week 18.
Huddle Up: Sanders has thrown two touchdowns and seven interceptions over the last three games and has been held to under 200 passing yards in all three games. He should have a favorable matchup this week but only be a possible option in some two-quarterback leagues.
