Huddle Up: Even if the Saints draft a QB -- which would be far from a shocker -- expect the soon-to-be 34-year-old McCown to back up Drew Brees for the third straight season. McCown, though, has only thrown one pass over the last three seasons.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert was lifted in Week 12 against the Houston Texans in favor of QB Luke McCown. However, head coach Jack Del Rio said Sunday, Nov. 27, that Gabbert remains the team's starter going forward.

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio was noncommittal after the Week 2 loss against the New York Jets about his plan for Week 3 concerning his starting quarterback. QB Luke McCown was benched after throwing four interceptions, as rookie QB Blaine Gabbert came on to finish up. "I'm gonna be ready. There's no question about that," Gabbert said.

Huddle Up: Is it in any way surprising that the team who kicked their starting QB to the curb less than a week before the start of the season is having issues at the position? The logical solution is a long-term commitment to Gabbert, their 2001 first-round pick; then again, it would have been logical to keep David Garrard around for another season to help smooth the transition so who knows what Del Rio will do.

Huddle Up: McCown knows Jags OC Dirk Koetter's system very well so it's not as big of a drop-off as you think. Many insiders feel McCown's got some untapped potential too. Back in 2007 he started four games for Tampa Bay and threw five TDs and three INTs while completing 67% of his passes.
