Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts had his fifth-year option exercised Monday, April 29, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Pitts will be working with a new offensive scheme and a new starting quarterback in 2024 and should be a big part of the passing game. He can be No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues.

Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts "fought through" his lingering knee injury in 2023 and is healthy entering the offseason, according to general manager Terry Fontenot, who told reporters he is excited about Pitts having a "great year" in 2024.
Huddle Up: Although Pitts managed to play 15 of 17 games in 2023, he wasn't anywhere close to 100 percent. For the first time in his pro career, it appears he will have a "normal" offseason. Better yet, new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson seems more likely to make the 23-year-old a more important part of the passing game than former head coach Arthur Smith or former offensive coordinator did in 2022 or 2023. At what will likely be a depressed price relative to his upside, Pitts has a great chance to be a major value in fantasy next season.

Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts is expected to be used as a blocker more by the new coaching staff. "We're not oblivious (to what he brings) from a receiving standpoint, so there are a lot of things that you can do to be creative and use his skill set in the pass game," tight ends coach Kevin Koger said. "But with him and the way we're going to run the ball and the athleticism he does have, there are a lot of things he can do in the run game to help us out to win football games. You'll see him all over the field, not just out wide but also in the box."
Huddle Up: That sounds a little troublesome for a player that has been banged up for much of his three seasons. He played in all 17 games last season, but his knee was an issue throughout. He finished as the TE13 in PPR leagues. He has TE3-5 talent, and he'll be drafted as a midrange TE1 with hopes of him finally putting it together.

Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts' 12.6 yards per reception in 2023 ranked second among tight ends with at least 50 targets.
Huddle Up: Between injuries and bizarre usage, Pitts has largely underwhelmed the last two seasons. However, his athleticism is undeniable, and a coaching change could allowed Pitts to unlock his potential.

Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts recently acknowledged to ESPN.com's Michael Rothstein that he was happy just to make it a full season one year after sustaining damage to his medial collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligament in 2022. He admitted he "never felt uncomfortable," but that the 2023 season was largely about learning getting the knee back to where it was pre-injury and using different techniques to keep his body fresh.
Huddle Up: After consecutive down seasons - mostly due to some odd usage before his injury in 2022 and his knee not being quite right in 2023 - Pitts figures to come at a relative bargain in 2024 drafts. Fantasy managers will still have to wait and see whom the Falcons hire to run the offense, but the odds are relatively strong that his overall situation will be vastly improved over the last two seasons. Still only 23 years old, Pitts' best days are most likely ahead of him.
