Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder was 22-of-44 for 222 yards and 2 interceptions Thursday, Oct. 2 in a 42-10 road loss to the Green Bay Packers. He was sacked 6 times, but had 3 carries for 15 yards and the Vikings' only TD of the night.

Huddle Up: Ponder, already the third QB to start for the Vikings this season, was not good and served up a reminder why the team has moved on at the QB position. To be fair, Ponder also received little protection or help from his offensive skill-position teammates, but definitely look for the Vikings to do everything they can over the next 11 days to get starter Teddy Bridgewater and his sprained ankle rehabbed and ready to return for the Week 6 game against the Lions.

Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder will start in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, Oct. 2, with QB Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) inactive for the game.

Huddle Up: Ponder, replaced the injured Bridgewater in the fourth quarter last week, will make his first start since Week 13 of last season when he averaged 183.1 passing yards per game while throwing 7 TD passes and 9 interceptions. Look for the Vikings to ride the Matt Asiata-Jerick McKinnon RB 1-2 punch tonight given the rainy Green Bay weather and the need to keep Aaron Rodgers on the sideline.

The Minnesota Vikings are willing to trade QB Christian Ponder. Ponder has performed well during training camp but probably will be the No. 3 quarterback.

Huddle Up: Ponder never had a realistic chance to win the starting job. Matt Cassel entered training camp as the No. 1 QB and rookie Teddy Bridgewater is closing fast. If the Vikings can't trade Ponder, there is a chance the former first-round pick could be released before the start of the season.

Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder will not be traded, according to general manager Rick Spielman. 'That would leave us with one quarterback. I would not do that,' Spielman said. 'We're going to need two quarterbacks. Three.'

Huddle Up: With Matt Cassel slated to start for the time being and more than a few draftniks linking a high-round Vikings' draft pick with a QB this week, Ponder has clearly been pushed to the background in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The 12th overall pick of the 2011 draft has made 35 starts in 3 seasons with Minny, but his best chance at earning more opportunities likely lie with another organization.

The Minnesota Vikings declined to pick up the fifth-year contract option for QB Christian Ponder.
SOURCE: Not available
Huddle Up: Ponder didn't win over the Vikings' former coaching regime, and most mock drafts have Mike Zimmer, Norv Turner and Co. spending a high pick this week on the franchise's new great QB hope.

Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 6, and has been ruled out for Week 14.

Huddle Up: That means Matt Cassel gets the call against the Ravens with Josh Freeman backing him up. In any case, it shouldn't have any effect on the rest of the Vikings' fantasy-worthy skill players.

Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder (shoulder) is listed as probable for Week 11 against the Seattle Seahawks, and he's been taking first-team repetitions in practice all week. However, the team won't make a final decision on him until he goes through a walk-through Saturday, Nov. 16. 'The way he moved around today, he looked pretty good,' head coach Leslie Frazier said. 'Hopefully he'll wake up tomorrow without any residual effects.'

Huddle Up: Pending any Saturday setbacks, Ponder looks as if he'll make his third straight start Sunday. The problem is, he gets the Seahawks' D in Seattle -- never a favorable mix for an opposing QB.

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder (shoulder) took most of the first-team snaps in practice Thursday, Nov. 14, wearing a harness on his left shoulder and expects to play in Week 11 against the Seattle Seahawks. Head coach Leslie Frazier is still unsure if Ponder will start, and he said QB Josh Freeman is a candidate to start if Ponder can't go. 'Ponder looked good,' said WR Greg Jennings. 'He practiced and (was) getting the game plan in and making some throws.'

Huddle Up: Despite the dislocated left shoulder, Ponder is the front-runner to start Sunday, but the final determination might not be made until game day. Regardless of who gets the call for the Vikes, it's a rugged matchup facing the Seahawks' D on the road.

Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder (shoulder) said he hopes to be able to play Week 11, and his status will be determined by how he will be able to handle the pain in his shoulder.

Huddle Up: Hopefully he can go, for the rest of the offense's sake. Not that Ponder is incredible or anything, but that goes to show how bad other quarterback options are.

Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder's (shoulder) dislocated left shoulder is of the very minor variety, and sources are saying that it's possible he could return to start in Week 11.

Huddle Up: Ponder has played well in the Vikings' last two games. He's not an elite NFL talent but Ponder is the best option Minnesota currently has at quarterback. At the very least Ponder increases the value of other Viking players when he's under center.
