Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery (knee) on Saturday, Oct. 9, was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a knee injury.
Huddle Up: That means the Bears' leading rusher will be out at least through Week 7 and likely even longer with the team owning a bye in Week 10. In the meantime, Damien Williams is projected to handle most of the workload and is a lower-end RB2 fantasy consideration.

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 8, and has been ruled out for Week 5.
Huddle Up: Montgomery is expected to miss multiple weeks because of his knee injury, so fantasy players will need to look for other options. Damien Williams will start for the Bears for the time being and can be a No. 2 fantasy back or flex option in leagues.

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery (knee) will miss four to five weeks with a knee sprain, according to sources.
Huddle Up: Damien Williams will become a must-have off of waivers and could creep into RB2 territory. He'll need some sort of consistency out of the passing game, but he could be a flex candidate each week. The Bears have a bye in Week 10, and Montgomery could be held out until afterwards.

Updating previous reports, Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery (knee) will have an MRI Monday, Oct. 4, but the initial tests indicate a hyperextended knee.
Huddle Up: Montgomery is 10th in fantasy points in PPR leagues among running backs so keep a close eye on him throughout the week. Damien Williams would be next up if Montgomery is out.

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery (knee) suffered a knee injury during the Week 4 game.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players could expect an update on Montgomery's status in the next day or two. He has recorded two 100-yard games this season and can be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues if he does not miss any additional time.

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery rushed 10 times for 34 yards in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns while adding two receptions for 21 yards on four targets.
Huddle Up: Montgomery and the run game struggled because there wasn't much of a pass game. He remains a solid RB2 or flex fantasy option in most leagues, and should rebound nicely in what should be a favorable game in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions.

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery rushed 20 times for 61 yards and caught three of his four targets for 18 yards in a 20-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.
Huddle Up: Montgomery didn't deliver any explosive plays, but he handled a majority of the backfield touches. His heavy workload will put him in RB2 territory most weeks.

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery carried 16 times for 108 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 versus the Los Angeles Rams. He also added a 10-yard catch on his only target.
Huddle Up: Montgomery was easily the best player on the field for Chicago, continually picking up yards after contact and making something out of nothing. The Bears' offensive line woes aren't going away, but Montgomery looked about as spry as he ever has in three years as a pro and should benefit when Justin Fields takes over as the starting quarterback. Montgomery should be a solid RB2 with RB1 upside in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery (undisclosed) limped off the field following his first (and only) carry of the first half of a preseason game Saturday, Aug. 14, against the Miami Dolphins. Montgomery didn't return to the game, but remained on the sideline. There was no injury update from the team, and the issue doesn't appear to be anything serious, in the opinion of a Bears beat reporter.
Huddle Up: It's the preseason so teams will more often than not err on the safe side, but still a situation to keep an eye on as well. In the meantime, continue to value Montgomery as mid-level RB2.

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery's 16.5 carries per game last season ranked fourth in the league, and it is the hope of head coach Matt Nagy that Montgomery can bump that number up to 20 in 2021, according to recent comments Nagy made to SI.com. 'Depending on what the game is, what's happened the last couple of years and why some of David's carries - which aren't low - haven't been quite as high is a lot of guys get into four-minute mode in the fourth quarter. That's where they can get those extra four or five carries, which can bump them into the top five, you know, with 20 rushes a game. That's our goal,' Nagy said.
Huddle Up: While more positive game script would certainly help Montgomery inch closer to 20 carries per game, Chicago hasn't done much from a personnel perspective to help make it a reality. The defense and offensive line don't figure to be significantly better, and rookie quarterback Justin Fields - when he takes over as the starter - will steal at least a handful of rush attempts per game from him as well. As such, it will be hard for Montgomery to finish among the top 10 at his position in fantasy for a second straight year.
