Detroit Lions RB David Montgomery carried the ball six times for 60 yards and a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14. Montgomery also had a 13-yard reception.
Huddle Up: Clearly, the Lions decided the way to attack the Cowboys was through the air. That left Montgomery with just seven touches, one above his season low. With five games of Dan Campbell calling plays to learn from, it certainly appears Montgomery will be used more sparingly going forward -- he's averaging eight touches per game over the last month -- meaning we'll need nights like this, where he turned seven opportunities into 73 yards and a TD, to deliver for fantasy owners. At this point, you should consider Montgomery a risk/reward flex.

Detroit Lions RB David Montgomery carried eight times for 32 yards and a touchdown and caught both of his targets for 16 yards in Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers. Montgomery also threw an incompletion on a play near the goal line.
Huddle Up: Head coach Dan Campbell promised Montgomery would handle more work in this game than he had seen recently and that partly proved to be the case, although one might not call 10 touches all that much of a boost after seven and eight in the previous two weeks, respectively. With that said, his touchdown from 3 yards out was his first in four games. Montgomery has a good shot of returning low-end RB2 value again next Thursday when the Lions host the Dallas Cowboys, who enter Week 13 as a top-five matchup for running backs.

Detroit Lions RB David Montgomery ran five times for 18 yards in a Week 12 OT win over the New York Giants.
Huddle Up: Montgomery did a lot of watching of his backfield mate in this one, and now has sub-10 carries in his last two outings after 10-plus in his previous three. Montgomery has found the end zone five times this season and is worth a bench spot in most fantasy formats.

Detroit Lions RB David Montgomery posted six runs for 27 yards in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles, while adding a 10-yard reception on his lone target.
Huddle Up: Montgomery saw his targets taken by Jahmyr Gibbs, who was used catching more balls out of the backfield than usual, since Gibbs struggled in the run game a bit. That cost Montgomery, as he was barely used. He remains a solid low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option in most leagues, still, and he should have a lot more production in Week 12 against the visiting New York Giants.

Detroit Lions RB David Montgomery rushed 15 times for 71 yards and didn't gain a yard on his lone reception in a 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 10.
Huddle Up: Montgomery split carries evenly with Jahmyr Gibbs, but the latter doubled up Montgomery in rushing yards and scored three total touchdowns. Montgomery remains a valuable part of the Detroit offense, but he is a flex option with occasional RB2 upside.

Detroit Lions RB David Montgomery rushed 11 times for 40 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 10 yards in a 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9. He also lost a fumble.
Huddle Up: With Jahmyr Gibbs struggling, Montgomery ended up leading Detroit in carries, rushing yards and total yards. He has played second fiddle to Gibbs most of the year, but Montgomery still logs enough touches to be a flex option.

Detroit Lions RB David Montgomery rushed 13 times for 21 yards in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while adding two receptions for 18 yards on three targets.
Huddle Up: Montgomery was having tremendous difficulty, averaging just 1.6 yards per carry, while his backfield partner Jahmyr Gibbs was on fire. Gibbs ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while totaling 200+ scrimmage yards. Montgomery will look to rebound in Week 9 after the team's bye. Despite the poor game, he remains a legit low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option even with Gibbs in the mix.

Huddle Up: Montgomery finished with his fewest number of carries and touches of the season, but unless more information comes to light, fantasy owners shouldn't overreact. Montgomery has regularly been logging 10-plus touches a game and had a season-high 19 touches just last week.

Detroit Lions RB David Montgomery rushed 18 times for 65 yards and a touchdown, threw a three-yard touchdown pass and caught a six-yard pass in a 37-24 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 5.
Huddle Up: Montgomery's yardage totals have been hit and miss through the first five weeks, but he has five total touchdowns and has logged 12-plus touches four times. Meanwhile, Detroit has scored 34 or more points in four straight games, so it appears that this offense can still support two fantasy starters at the running back spot.
