Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (knee) underwent successful surgery to repair his posterolateral corner (PLC), and his recovery timeline is expected to be similar to that of an ACL tear, head coach Andy Reid told reporters Monday, Oct. 14.
Huddle Up: This somewhat conflicts earlier reports that Rice only had a 4-6 month timeline. If Rice is expected to miss similar time to that of an ACL, his chances of being ready for the start of the 2025 regular season come into question. Rice is done for the remainder of the 2024 season, including the playoffs, so this will be an offseason storyline to monitor. Managers who have Rice in dynasty leagues should consider him a hold for now.

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (knee) underwent surgery to repair damage to his lateral collateral ligament on Tuesday, Oct. 8. While a timetable for his return has yet to be announced, Rice only suffered damage to his LCL and no other ligament.
Huddle Up: The typical timeline for a return to action following LCL surgery is four to six months. While it does give Rice a shot to play late in the postseason if the Chiefs make it that far, it seems highly unlikely he will be able to beat the timeline enough to return during the regular season. Fantasy managers are advised to keep Rice in their IR spot until something official is announced, however. JuJu Smith-Schuster played very well in the team's Week 5 victory and should be one of the most sought-after adds off the waiver wire this week.

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (knee) needs to undergo surgery on his lateral collateral ligament and is expected to miss the rest of the 2024 season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rice likely will be sidelined for around three months if he only needs surgery on his LCL and his other ligaments do not need to be surgically repaired.
Huddle Up: There appears to be an outside chance that Rice will be a possibility to return if the Chiefs make a deep run in the playoffs, but fantasy players should not expect him until next season. He will be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues next season.

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (knee) could return this season and be sidelined six to eight weeks, according to league sources, but nothing will be determined until after his procedure Monday, Oct. 7.
Huddle Up: Rice is the WR22 despite only playing in three games thus far. Keep him stashed. Xavier Worthy had a 3-73-1 line on four targets last week, and he will play a bigger role. Temper expectations, though, and the rookie is a WR3 or flex option as Patrick Mahomes should spread the ball around.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (knee) is expected to undergo an arthroscopic procedure this upcoming week in order to help determine the extent of the damage in his knee, according to sources.
Huddle Up: Rice will miss at least four weeks since he is on the Reserve/Injured list but probably will miss more time if there is significant damage in the knee. The Chiefs do not have a clear replacement for Rice in their lineup, so the fantasy players may want to wait a week or two before adding a Chiefs receiver to their lineup.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice's (knee) injury timetable could be determined as soon as Monday, Oct. 7, and the Chiefs intend to try to make a move at wide receiver, according to leagues sources.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list on Thursday, Oct. 3.
Huddle Up: It is slightly odd that more is not known about the severity of Rice's injury almost a week after it happened. The delay in testing on Rice's knee is likely due to the amount of swelling in the knee, but it remains to be seen if that is a good or bad thing. Either way, going on IR will sideline him for at least the next four games. Kansas City is expected to lean more heavily on Travis Kelce in Rice's absence and figures to get more contributions from Justin Watson and JuJu Smith-Schuster as well.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (knee) is waiting for the swelling in his knee to subside before going for additional testing next week, head coach Andy Reid told reporters Thursday, Oct. 3.
Huddle Up: Managers are impatiently waiting to know what they can do with Rice after what appeared to be a season-ending knee injury. For now, Rice should still be rostered in the event his injury allows him to return later in the season.

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (knee) will need to undergo more testing after tests done Monday, Sept. 30, did not show the full extent of the injury, according to sources. The team is not expected to receive full results until next week.
Huddle Up: Rice is expected to miss at least one game and probably will miss more if he is dealing with a serious injury. Fantasy players should expect a timetable for Rice at some point next week. The Chiefs do not have a clear No. 1 receiver, but Xavier Worthy probably will have more fantasy value moving forward.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (knee) is still undergoing tests but has already been ruled out for the Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints, head coach Andy Reid told reporters Monday, Sept. 30.
Huddle Up: Rice is expected to be diagnosed with a torn ACL, but it seems the team is making sure they cover all their bases before announcing it. It's a tough blow for managers, who likely got Rice at a discount in drafts. There is no one-for-one replacement for fantasy purposes, but managers might be able to look to JuJu Smith-Schuster as an extremely deep option.
