Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (ankle) was not activated from the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Oct. 29, and will not play in the Week 8 game.
Huddle Up: McCaffrey will be sidelined for at least one more week, so Mike Davis will continue to be the starting running back for the Panthers. He is coming off a disappointing performance in Week 7 but should still be a No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues.

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey 'looks good' in practice, head coach Matt Rhule said Tuesday, Oct. 28. He 'looks like he is moving around great.,' Rhule added. 'We will let the medical people and him determine when he can go out and play in a game.'
Huddle Up: The time is rapidly nearing for Run CMC's return, and it could very well be this Thursday against the Atlanta Falcons. That likely will be determined in the next few days so monitor the situation closely.

Updating a previous story, Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (ankle) returned to practice Monday, Oct. 26.
Huddle Up: McCaffrey has been deemed a long shot to play in Week 8, but fantasy managers will clearly need to continue monitoring this situation. He'll be a must-start player if he's declared active.

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel caught six passes for 48 yards against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7. He was targeted six times during the game.
Huddle Up: Samuel has not been a big factor in the offense this season but has caught all 11 of his targets over the last two games. He will see a handful of touches each game because of his playmaking ability and could be a flex option in some leagues next week because of the favorable matchup.

Carolina Panthers WR Robby Anderson caught six passes for 74 yards against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7. He was targeted eight times during the game.
Huddle Up: Anderson has posted at least 70 yards in six of the seven games in 2020 and is averaging nearly seven receptions per game over the last month. He has been a significant part of the passing game and can be a No. 2 fantasy receiver next week against the Atlanta Falcons.

Carolina Panthers WR D.J. Moore caught four passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7. He was targeted five times during the game.
Huddle Up: Moore has been very consistent recently with 93 yards in each of his last three games. He has been targeted at least five times in six of the seven games this season and will continue to be a big part of the passing game. He can be at least a No. 2 receiver in fantasy leagues next week.

Carolina Panthers RB Mike Davis rushed for 12 yards on seven carries against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7. He also caught five passes for 24 yards during the game.
Huddle Up: Davis has been a reliable fantasy option since taking over the starting job but did not have much success against the Saints. Fantasy players will need to monitor Christian McCaffrey's status because Davis could start again in Week 8 is McCaffrey is not ready to play. Davis can be a No. 2 running back in leagues if he remains the starter.

Carolina Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater went 23-for-28 for 254 yards and two touchdowns against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7.
Huddle Up: Bridgewater has been a solid quarterback for the Panthers and has thrown at least two touchdowns in three of the last four games. He should have success next week against the Atlanta Falcons and can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback or a bye week replacement in fantasy leagues.

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (knee) is active for Week 7's game against the New Orleans Saints.
Huddle Up: Samuel had been listed as questionable on the injury report but was able to participate in all three of the team's practice sessions during the week on a limited basis. However, he is not a recommended fantasy option this afternoon because of his lack of involvement in the Carolina offense.

Carolina Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater faces the New Orleans Saints defense in Week 7, and the Saints have allowed 15 touchdown passes in five games.
Huddle Up: Bridgewater is coming off a rough outing against the stingy secondary of the Chicago Bears, but he should bounce back in a big way against his former team. He is one of the top streaming options for Week 7.

Carolina Panthers RB Mike Davis (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.
Huddle Up: Davis has received at least 20 touches in each of the last four games and has posted four total touchdowns during that span. He should receive a similar workload as long as Christian McCaffrey is sidelined and can be a No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 23, and is listed as questionable for Week 7.
Huddle Up: Samuel may be a game-time decision this week, so fantasy players will need to check the inactive list for his official status. He has not been a big part of the offense this season and can be avoided in fantasy leagues even if he plays.

Carolina Panthers PK Joey Slye on Friday, Oct. 23, was activated off the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
Huddle Up: Kicker alert here as Slye, who never tested positive for the virus himself, should be good to go for Sunday's Week 7 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Carolina Panthers RB Mike Davis (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 22.
Huddle Up: Davis has posted outstanding numbers since taking over for Christian McCaffrey and will continue to receive plenty of touches as long as McCaffrey is sidelined. He is a must-start option all leagues.

Huddle Up: Samuel was not able to play in the Week 6 game but appears to have a chance to play this week. He has not been a big part of the offense so far this season and can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Carolina Panthers RB Mike Davis (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Huddle Up: Davis has played very well since taking over the starting job and will continue to receive plenty of work until Christian McCaffrey returns to the lineup. He should be considered a No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues this week.

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Huddle Up: Samuel was not able to play last week but appears to have a decent chance to play in Week 7. He has posted at least 50 yards receiving in only one game this season and can be avoided in most leagues.

Updating an earlier report, Carolina Panthers PK Joey Slye went to the Reserve/COVID-19 list because of close contact to a person that tested positive and not because he was positive.
Huddle Up: That's good news. Depending on when they had contact, he could be back sooner than if he failed a test. Week 7 is still probably on the downside of questionable, though.

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (ankle) isn't expected to play in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints, but he 'has a shot' to play in Week 8 versus the Atlanta Falcons, according to NFL Network's Mike Garofolo.
Huddle Up: Garofolo is speculating the Panthers don't want to bring back McCaffrey from a month-long absence to have him play twice in five days and it makes sense. Of course, it would also make sense for Carolina to not put McCaffrey back on the field on a short week (Week 8) and give him even more time to recover from his high-ankle sprain. Fantasy owners should view Week 7 as the last time they'll get to use Mike Davis - presumably for the remainder of the season - barring an in-game aggravation of the injury down the road. McCaffrey will obviously return to the RB1 ranks as soon as he returns to the field.

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (ankle) has missed four games with a high-ankle sprain, and head coach Matt Rhule told reporters Monday, Oct. 19, that he's not sure if McCaffrey will return in Week 7, Week 8 or Week 9.
Huddle Up: This feels like a head coach being coy with the media, but there also haven't been any significant updates on McCaffrey's recovery either. Carolina doesn't go on its bye until Week 13 and is in the middle of a stretch in which it plays three games in 12 days, so it is entirely possible McCaffrey won't be able to play again until Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Fantasy owners lucky enough to grab Mike Davis last month could conceivably get two more RB1-level games out of him.

Carolina Panthers WR Robby Anderson registered four receptions for 77 yards on five targets in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears.
Huddle Up: Anderson hasn't scored since Week 1, but he has at least four or more receptions and at least 55 yards in each of his six outings this season. He has been a solid low-end WR2 in most PPR leagues, with WR3 value in most other formats of 12 or more teams. He and the Panthers face the New Orleans Saints in Week 7.

Carolina Panthers WR D.J. Moore ended up with five receptions for 93 yards on 11 targets in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears.
Huddle Up: That's three games in a row, and five of six overall, with at least four receptions, and he has 93 receiving yards in back-to-back games. He'll look to keep it cooking in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints.

Carolina Panthers RB Mike Davis ran 18 times for 52 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears and he added two grabs for three yards while losing a fumble.
Huddle Up: It wasn't a great week for Davis or the Carolina offense. He'll look to bounce back in Week 7 in New Orleans. His fantasy usefulness might be coming to an end soon, as Christian McCaffrey continues to make progress from a high ankle sprain and could return before the end of the month.

Carolina Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater completed 16-of-29 passes for 216 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears and he also ran for 48 yards.
Huddle Up: Bridgewater hasn't made a lot of mistakes this season, but he tossed two interceptions for the first time since Week 2 in Tampa Bay. That loss to the Bucs was also the first time he failed to throw a touchdown. He'll look to rebound in Week 7 on the road against the New Orleans Saints.

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (ankle) was not activated from the Reserve/Injured list this week and 'it seems unlikely' he will be ready for Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN.com's David Newton, who suggests Week 8 is a more realistic time for his return.
Huddle Up: It appears Mike Davis will continue being the gift that keeps on giving a bit longer for fantasy owners. High-ankle sprains typically come with a four-to-six week recovery timetable, so it appears the Panthers are taking their time to make sure McCaffrey is right, although Davis is making it easy for the team to be patient. Continue to view Davis as a must-start until further notice.
