Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith rushed five times for 13 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 45 yards in a 22-10 preseason loss to the New York Jets Thursday, Aug. 15.
Huddle Up: Smith's versatility gives him the best chance to serve as the primary backup to Devonta Freeman, and given Freeman's recent injury history, Smith could be one of the more valuable handcuffs.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) is reportedly back to running routes at full speed after spending most of the early part of training camp recovering from a foot injury, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Huddle Up: The plan all along has been to take it slow with Jones and reduce his reps, so things appear to be progressing just as everyone hoped. Jones should be among the top five receivers off the board on draft day, if not the first one.

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (knee) participated in practice Monday, Aug. 12. Sanu missed practice Sunday, Aug. 11, because of knee soreness.
Huddle Up: Sanu will be a top three receiver for the Falcons this season and has caught at least 59 passes in each of his three seasons with the team. He can be a No. 4 or No. 5 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley (hamstring) participated in practice Sunday, Aug. 11.
Huddle Up: Ridley should be ready for the start of the regular season as long as he does not suffer any setbacks. Ridley is coming off a solid 2018 season and will continue to have a good role in the passing game. He can be a No. 3 fantasy receiver in fantasy leagues.

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan will see some playing time in the preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Aug. 8.
Huddle Up: While the Falcons disappointed as a team last season, Ryan approached the numbers he put him during his MVP campaign, tossing 35 touchdowns and finishing just shy of 5,000 passing yards. He's a steady QB1 that should still be available in the middle rounds.

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley (hamstring) remains on the sideline during practice and he is unlikely to play in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 8 against the Miami Dolphins.
Huddle Up: Ridley should be fine for the regular season, and there are no indications otherwise. He should be targeted as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3 or flex fantasy option in all leagues of 12 or more teams.

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman is the unquestioned No. 1 running back, according to head coach Dan Quinn, and Quinn said the backup role is still up for grabs.
Huddle Up: It sounds like it is Freeman and then everyone else in the Atlanta backfield. Injuries are a concern, but Freeman offers RB1 potential for a RB2 price tag during drafts.

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) won't play at all this preseason.
Huddle Up: Jones is aging and has a laundry list of injuries in his historic career. He's still an elite WR1, but the risks are adding up.

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley (hamstring) left the field holding his right hamstring Thursday, July 25.
Huddle Up: It could just be cramps, but it's definitely a situation to watch for the WR3 in fantasy.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) remains 10 to 14 days from being fully cleared to practice, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
Huddle Up: Jones is coming off his biggest year since 2015, but he's entering his age-30 season with a checkered list of injuries he has played through. He's still an elite WR1, but he has drawbacks.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) is still rehabbing a foot injury that kept him out of June minicamps, according to head coach Dan Quinn on Monday, July 22. Jones had a bunion removed immediately after the 2018 season and was limited to working with trainers in Monday's opening day of training camp. The absence is not related to his contract situation.
Huddle Up: At this stage, it's more of a "keep an eye on it" approach than time to change your draft plans. The star receiver has a history of foot problems, but this one has nothing to do with it, as far as we can tell. Jones remains an elite WR1 in all fantasy settings.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (ankle) will participate in training camp after missing minicamp due to an ankle injury.
Huddle Up: Hooper is coming off his first Pro Bowl appearance as he heads into his fourth season in the NFL. The former third-round pick caught 71 of 88 targets for 660 yards and four touchdowns in his breakout season and has top-10 upside at his position under the direction of new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones reported for training camp Sunday, July 21, as he continues waiting for a new contract. The 30-year-old enters the 2019 campaign on the second-to-last year of his current deal and will carry a cap hit of $12.9 million.
Huddle Up: Jones remains in the conversation for the best receiver in fantasy football and should be a sure-fire first-round pick.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught 71 of 88 targets last season for an 80.7 percent catch ratio. In comparison, former TE Tony Gonzalez's best catch ratio was 75 percent in 2012. 'Hooper, the improvement just keeps getting better,' Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said. 'Now, he's ready to go to another level, and I'm looking forward to seeing him make that growth.'
Huddle Up: That catch ratio can be looked at in different lenses and could be an aberration. Hooper delivered a 71-660-4 season, and he could improve upon that or level off. He's a solid midrange TE1 in PPR formats.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones said he will not hold out of training camp because of his contract situation. He said he has talked with owner Arthur Blank and is not worried about his contract.
Huddle Up: Jones and the Falcons likely will continue to talk about an extension during training camp and should reach an agreement at some point. He is one of the best receivers in the NFL and should be one of the first receivers off the board in fantasy drafts.

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan said Monday, June 24, he's happy with his team's selections of G Chris Lindstrom and OT Kaleb McGary in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. 'I'm really excited about those guys ... they're tough, they're physical, they move well and it's gonna be a lot of fun to play behind them,' Ryan said.
Huddle Up: Ryan was sacked 42 times in 2018, the most since 2013. Only seven quarterbacks were sacked more times than Ryan in 2018. Some extra time to make his reads could only help Ryan improve on a third-ranked interception percentage of 1.2 from last season.

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu has come into the offseason workouts in excellent shape, according to head coach Dan Quinn, and Quinn believes Sanu is ready to take his game to the 'next level' in 2019.
Huddle Up: Sanu topped 800 yards last year, but with Calvin Ridley looking like a potential star, Sanu could see his numbers dip a bit in 2019. Despite Quinn's praise, Sanu is probably more valuable to the Falcons at this point than he is to fantasy owners.

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (groin) looks 'so much like himself' this offseason, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
Huddle Up: With Tevin Coleman no longer in the mix, Freeman has a chance to return to the every-down force he was a few seasons ago. There's some injury risk, but he's worth grabbing as a RB2 as the lead back in a potent Atlanta offense.

Atlanta Falcons WR JUlio Jones will have a long-term contract extension before training camp arrives, according to 'confident' team sources.
Huddle Up: Jones turned 30 in February but posted an NFL-most 1,677 receiving yards last season and is in a good spot to garner the last big contract of his career. As for fantasy 2019, Jones should be one of the top four receivers off the board in any format.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) will not participate in drills during training camp because of a foot injury, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
Huddle Up: Jones should be fine for training camp and will be one of the first receivers selected in fantasy drafts.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (undisclosed) did not practice Thursday, June 6.
Huddle Up: At this point, there is nothing to indicate that Hooper is dealing with any type of serious injury. He doesn't have the athleticism to produce elite fantasy numbers, but he is a steady target for Matt Ryan. Hooper can be a dependable, albeit low-end, TE1.

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley (foot) sat out practice Thursday, June 6, with a sore foot.
Huddle Up: The injury doesn't sound like anything for fantasy owners to worry about. Ridley flashed big-play potential as a rookie last year, and he should have no trouble delivering WR3 production as part of Atlanta's loaded passing attack.

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (groin) said he has completely recovered from the groin injury he dealt with last season.
Huddle Up: Freeman will receive a majority of the playing time this upcoming season with Tevin Coleman no longer on the roster. He has been a reliable fantasy option over the years and can be a No. 2 running back in leagues in 2019.

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan said he is excited to be reunited with offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter. 'We've come up with some really good stuff,' Ryan said.
Huddle Up: Ryan is coming off a career-high 35 touchdown passes last season, and Koetter has engineered some potent passing attacks. With plenty of weapons around him, Ryan is a safe bet to deliver QB1 production again in 2019.

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee, groin, foot) is participating in OTAs Thursday, May 23.
Huddle Up: Freeman only played in two games last season due to multiple injuries, but is set up to be the main man in the Atlanta backfield with Tevin Coleman now gone. Value him as a low-end RB2 with some upside and also, of course, some injury risk.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones was not present for the start of organized team activities Monday, May 20.
Huddle Up: Jones is talking with the team about a contract extension and may not participate until the mandatory minicamp. Jones continues to be one of the top receivers in the NFL and should be a No. 1 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones' agent has been talking with the Falcons about a contract extension for Jones, and general manager Thomas Dimitroff said he is very encouraged with the talks. Dimitroff said there is no timetable for an agreement.
Huddle Up: Jones has been one of the top receivers in the NFL over the last several seasons and will be a No. 1 receiver in all fantasy leagues again in 2019.

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (groin) will be a full participant at the start of training camp, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
Huddle Up: Freeman should receive most of the work at running back in 2019 and should also be involved in the passing game. He can be considered a solid No. 2 running back in most fantasy leagues.
